1) Utterly irrelevant. You only have to 'cover' part of the double yellow lines to be guilty of a parking offence. Not worth appealing.
2) If you can PROVE in a court of law that the lines do not adhere to the government's regulations, then you MAY have a valid case for appeal.

Whether or not your vehicle was only parked partially on the double yellows you are still contravening the parking laws if you think the lines where not adhereing to the governents regulations then take photographs showing with a ruler or tape measure in the picture the measurements are incorrect then try to appeal,if you are in the AA.or RAC.they would give you the best advice. But you know what they say , Its hard to beat the system, you wont know till you try.

You do not have a right to knock down the wall and have an off road parking space - no one does. You cannot cross the pavement with a motor vehicle without gaining permission and dropping the kerb as per the councils standards and often by them doing it for you - typical cost £2000. Many people cannot do that for this and other reasons like being on or too close to a bend or junction. You can merely ask the county highways department to consider moving the bus stop and give your reasons - it is then up to them. You would then still have to gain permission for the access and works. If it is at the top of a hill and dangerous for a bus stop it could well be considered too dangerous for access to your garden. If any of your neighbours are crossing the pavement without a dropped kerb i can guarantee they are committing a motoring offence every single time they do.

You can appeal by all means. But you WILL lose - even if the bumper of your vehicle was overhanging double yellow lines the Traffic Warden has every right to issue you with a ticket.
Double Yellow Lines are there for a REASON - to prevent people parking across a drive/entrance way that requires 24 hour access, to ensure clear vision at all times on a pedestrian crossing.
If you do appeal, the fine issued to you will double or triple.

Go to the planning department at the council and ask for the guidelines on yellow line implementation.
If the yellow lines you were parked on were in infrigemnet of these guidlines, then take photographs and appear in court with the evidence when your case is heard.
You will get off with it!

Don't do that again. Parking tickets are paid by check as that you need a receipt. Month later check and see that it is off the books.. (paid)) Mr Ironsides (Raymond Burr) or Mattlock (Andy Griffith) is not necessary---no moving points--plead guilty and pay the fine.

you ever heard the song " I fought the law, and the law won" because thats whats going to happen. unless you have a valid reason why you can't fit your whole car in the valid space. i would suggest learning how to park.
