Most people do not - it is a lie put out by the French!!
They do not have good fashion. Around the world fashion is usually attributed to the English and Italians. French fashion shows are all front and no substance.
Just as France claimed to have the best wines and food and found the world does not agree and these industries are failing in France, fashion will go the same way!!

YSL is from France isnt he?
Im not sure why France is percieved as such, it must be because France was seen as chic during the 50s and 60s and that view has carried on from there.

They don't really - its more style than fashion. As for icons how about Coco Chanel, Christian Dior, Yves St Laurent etc etc

i have no idea, maybe because they used to be? i think the UK and the USA are leading in fashion right now, at least in popular fashion.
