There are a number of very unusual things I have tried...

Amongst the worst: UNI
Uni is a delicacy to certain sushi lovers. Although I enjoy most good sushi, uni is horrible. Uni is literally the disemboweled ovaries of a sea urchin. Have you ever seen a sea urchin? They are repugnant to say the least! Uni has the texture of paste with sand in it. Uni has the color of yellow baby-poo. It might have the flavor too, although I can't' say for certain as I have never tried poo of any color.

Amongst the best: wild fruits of tropical Hawaii!

Of course I tried the great standards, Pineapple, guava, mango etc. There is nothing on this planet as good as freshly picked raw tropical fruit!

But during the same trip, we had exotic fruits that I have never seen or heard the names of. Our guide did not speak English very well and some of the names of these fruits are strange indeed. You can start on a beach, climb through the forest, and eat just about anything that looks good along the way. Highly recommended trip if you ever get the chance!

Many years ago I lived in Louisiana and was invited to a friend's house for dinner. His wife served a dish that had vegetables and some kind of meat. The meat was gray in color and it was slimey. When I asked, they said it was possum. I tried to be polite and eat it but I just couldn't stomach the taste and had to apologize. Couldn't eat it.

My town used to hold Turkey Fry Night once a month. If you don't know what it is, it's breaded and deep-fried turkey testicles. I'm not joking. I tried them and it was surprisingly good. But salty. I have no idea whose bright idea it was to come up with something like that.
