I got a "prize" from Yahoo Answers for having a certain amount of points earned. It was a cup with "Yahoo Answers" (or something like that on it)....lol...and yes they ask you for your address so they can mail it to you. So, it might not be a scam. But if you still aren't sure, email Yahoo Answers and ask them, before you give out any personal information.
Oh and another thing: that was like six months ago, and I've never had any problems with any spam or spyware stuff because of it.

a lot of people have received this e-mail, and there seems to be some confusion as to whether or not it's for real, or it's a scam... i've taken the chance and given my details...
some people are saying that they've had prizes off yahoo before, so i'm willing to believe that this is genuine. and i've also heard that it might be a t-shirt that we are getting - but that might all depend on which level u are on.

This is called Phising. In computing, phishing is a criminal activity using social engineering techniques. Phishers attempt to fraudulently acquire sensitive information, such as usernames, passwords and credit card details, by masquerading as a trustworthy entity in an electronic communication. eBay and PayPal are two of the most targeted companies, and online banks are also common targets. Phishing is typically carried out by email or instant messaging, and often directs users to give details at a website, although phone contact has been used as well. So NEVER trust them...Yahoo have your personal details and they wouldn't ask them or send you mail or email in case it gets encrypted...
