The first double century in test cricket was scored by
WL Murdoch of Australia in the 3rd test of Ashes series
1884 between Australia and England played at Kenningston Oval, London from 11th to 13th August,1884.
Murdoch was the Captain of Australia Team. He scored 211 runs from 525 balls with the help of 24 fours. The match ended in a draw.
