Ive been on the pill for a long time, and decided to skip my period for the first time this month, so i did and i noticed that right before my next period, i had a lot of spotting. I was wondering if i was having my period, and i took the pill on the..lets say 3rd day while im still having my period..will my period stop or continue to finish? And if my period was able to stop after the 3rd day, would i still have spotting?

Playing with your period and the pill is like mixing George Bush with multi syllable vowels and asking him to translate a peace accord (a VERY bad idea) I don't know why you would ask that unless you are trying to short circuit your monthly visitor in order to hook up for some hot action ASAP. If this is the case, then relax. He's a guy- he would crawl 50 miles through snow for some. Trust me that's an offer that doesn't expire. In the mean time stay on the pill as you should and then talk to your doctor if you are having issues w/ it. Otherwise you will find yourself at the clinic downing a gallon of fetal flush asking yourself "why god did it have to be blue."
OK sweetie good luck with all of that :-)

The first 21 pills have hormones in them. They protect against pregnancy. After the 21 pills are gone you will have your period. After 7 days of being off the pill you will begin taking the hormone pills again. You are protected against pregnancy the whole time.

You must only use your medicine EXACTLY as it is perscribed! This is serious!

Yes, it could stop this period. And it essentially makes it's effectiveness as a pregnancy prevention nil. It won't return to it's proper efficiency for about 3 months. You are using yourself as an experiment. That's illegal for physicians and researchers to do, and you shouldn't do it either.

If you want a pill to cut down the number of periods you have each year (to 4), there is one called Yasmin that your doctor can evaluate you to see if it's right for you.
