No
They don't do that until months later or unless something is wrong.

No, when you contact your doctor to tell them you think your pregnant, they'll want to see you and have you do a urine test in the office just to confirm your pregnancy. Once your doctor confirms your pregnancy he or she will change you to an OB patient and have you start going in once a month for a check up. (the check ups get closer the further along you are) I didn't have my first ultrasound until was 18 weeks, which is pretty normal. Most people I talk to has it between 16 and 20 weeks. That's when they will measure the babies organs, check the fluid around the baby and if you want, they'll let you know the sex. By the size of your baby they may also change your due date. I know I was 2.5 weeks be hide. My original due date was November 28, then it got changed to December 15th. I had my baby on December 8th... Hope this helps you. Good luck if your pregnant or trying to conceive....

My doctor DID...but I think that was more of the exception than the norm. I was on the pill and very unsure how far along I was, since my periods continued until I stopped the pill, so they went ahead and did an ultrasound to date the pregnancy and figured out I was already 12 weeks along! I'm not sure my doctor would normally do it right away for someone who was more certain of her dates, though. Most of my friends didn't have ultrasounds until closer to 20 weeks, once gender could be determined.

Typically, no. At most clinics they only provide you with a urine test similar to the ones you get at the drug store. Unless you are three months pregnant and didn't realize it and tell your doctor you've 3 months late on your period, or you're in there for an abortion and they need to see how far along you are, then they will do an ultrasound. So if you missed your period for a month and you go to your doctor for a pregnancy test, they'll only do a urine test and if you are pregnant they will schedule an appt at a later time.

Not normally. If you don't know what the date of your 'first day of you last menstrual period '(LMP)(this is how they figure out your due date) then they would give you a referral to have a dating scan at a specialised place, otherwise if you were TTC and knew when your LMP was you would probably go at 12weeks for an ultrasound to check baby and confirm dates. Some doctors do a blood test to check hormone levels which can give an indication of how far along you are.

There are pregnancy centers that have "Option Ultrasound" where you can have an ultrasound when you have a pregnancy test done --- all free of charge. It is really a wonderful experience, and the pregnancy center has really caring people who can explain and talk with you about any questions or concerns that you have regarding pregnancy.

No, you dont usually have your first ultrasound until you are around 12 weeks pregnant. The majority of the time people find out they are pregnant so early that having a scan then would mean the doctors wouldn't be able to see anything anyway becasue they baby would be so small.

Nope. If you have done home tests they don't even test you at the docs - they just take your word for it!
They will roughly work out your dates going on the last period you had and then give you a 'booking in' appointment with the midwife at around 12 weeks where you get your scan and more accurate dates.

Some OB/GYNs do perform an intravaginal ultrasound at your first visit once it has been confirmed that you are pregnant. This is typically to get a better idea of how far along you are, as well as to find out if you are carrying multiples.

Not likely. It's usually done after 6 weeks. Unless it's a high-risk pregnancy and they have reason to believe the fetus could be in trouble.

If you are prego, then they do an Intervaginal ultrasound. Which is a funky probe thing that safely goes into the vagina and emits the lights to form the picture.
