If you have academic aptitude, and a flair for studies and a research oriented personality and mind, then, go for mtech, with dedication and concentration, not getting distracted: in a very short time of five to seven years, you could earn higher academic degrees even beyond m tech, and get closer to great satisfaction and fulfillment! But, if you are not sure, and if you need financial back-up and support, and freedom that way, then do a short career in software to consolidate financially, at the same time keeping the ultimate goal of higher studies in your mind, not putting off the flame of desire for studies and academic pursuits! Either way, do well, good luck, and all the best!
