It depends. Will it make it over Niagra Falls?

Seriously, there is the Welland canal which bypasses the falls and allows boats to go from Lake Superior to the St. Lawrence Seaway.

As mentioned the Welland Canal will get you past the falls. An alternative is the Erie Canal. It requires that your mast be removed. Many sailors heading to winter in the south use this option. Also there is the Tomtombee (sp?) that runs from the Tennessee River I believe which empties into the Ohio. I think you can canal it from Chicago to the Illinois-Mississippi-Tennessee Rivers ending up in Mobile. Of course you could just keep going on the Miss to New Orleans.

Yes you can, by the way, you wouldn't go over Niagara Falls, you go around it, like all the other shipping on the Great lakes. It makes one wonder where these guys learned their geography?

I do wonder about your sea wise knowledge though. If you have to ask, maybe you'd better get some maps of shipping and sea lanes of the Great lakes.

Yes, there are locks that will get you around Niagara falls. Expect it to take at least a week to get there. There is no better time than now to do it, as the weather is beautiful on the Great Lakes in July.

Yes you can. Like the other person said, there's a canal circumventing the falls. Once you're on lake Ontario, it's straight down the st. Lawrence river to the Atlantic.

There is an engaging book "River Horse" by William Least Heat Moon chronicling his experience traveling by boat across the U.S. from New York City harbor to Puget Sound.
There is some portaging and trailering but the historic references and insights to American life along the waterways is enlightening.

You will have to motor part of the way and depending on which route you take you might have to dismast. You can go down the Mississippi to the Gulf of Mexico, Take the St Lawrence route to the Atlantic or take one of two canal systems to the Hudson River.
