My favorite quote by Albert Einstein sums it all up:

'"The world is a dangerous place to live, not because of the people who are evil, but because of the people who don't do anything about it."

Leaves a lot to think about, doesn't it?

Most of the time you are right. However there are times when violence is the only option available to you.

Martin Luther King and Ghandi both showed the importance of peaceful demonstration, and that was incredibly important, for they were able to achieve more through peaceful protest than violence would ever have brought about.

But an example when violence was the only option was with World war II. No one would have been able to reason with Hitler or Imperial Japan. The only thing they literally did listen to was violence. Then, it would have been more evil (as well as stupid) to do nothing, and peaceful demonstrations would have had no effect. Do not get me wrong, a lot of evil acts took place, on both sides, but then, violence was the lesser of the two evils.

Depends on who the violence is inflicted on. You want to get violent with a drug dealer, a rapist, a child molester or other such disgraces to humanity and obvious wastes of oxygen and space... I say GO FOR IT! (and if you need help there are several people that I'm sure would be more than willing to help, myself included)
