Avoid foods high in sodium, and soda, as they can cause bloating and cramping.
Bathe frequently and keep yourself clean to avoid odor.
Change your tampons/pads as soon as they become too used up. Don't wear one for longer than 4 hours (3 on heavy days), as to avoid Toxic Shock Syndrome (although rare, it still happens).
Darker clothes (panties, pants and skirts) help conceal accidents.
Drink plenty of water, as it helps reduce cramps and bloating.
If your period seems to last too long or is heavy constantly, consider seeing a gyno.
Overall, your period shouldn't stop you from doing all the things you do when you don't have a period, it's just a time to be a little more cautious.

Let me preface this by saying...cultural norms differ depending upon what country you live in. The American Indians had a special house set aside just for women who were menstrating, and they could not touch any weapons or "man" things because of a belief that it would negatively affect a man's virility. Be that as it may, from a physical standpoint, there is absolutely NOTHING you can't do just because you are on your period. It comes down to what you are comfortable with. Women who suffer from major cramps tend not to want to excercise (although its been shown to reduce pain and cramping). And there are certain other activities that can be.....messy...during a woman's period, although it won't cause any physical problems to participate in them. The only time I worried was when I was in rural Honduras and had limited access to a bathroom (and the water there has all kinds of bacteria and parasites). But it all turned out just fine.
As far as what you should and shouldn't eat...well...there is no difference between when you are and are not on your period. Eat a healthy diet, and include some chocolate if the mood strikes you. There has to be SOME benefit to dealing with our monthly visitor! Hope this helped.

ok ok totally agree with the personh who said white pants. Also you can but i try not to have mochas or any coffee considering it will keep you in the restroom forever especially mochas i have actually stopped having mochas for awhile and havent had as many problems. You can do all the things you wnat to just have to be careful especially if you wnat to go swimming you have to wear a tamptom. I have actually never warn them cause i am kind of uncomfortable putting something up there so i dont go swimming while on my period. But you can really do anything while you are on your period. Also keep yourself occupyed so you dont worry about your period tom much keep your mind off of it especially if your having cramps. I dont know if you have bad cramps but my aunt actually gave me Mydol when i was on it this is when i had horrible cramps and it went away quickly. hope this helps.

There isn't really aything you're "not supposed" to do or eat, but it's really best to avoid salt and caffeine, because those things make bloating and cramps worse. I's interesting, because those are usually the things you crave during that time.
*None of those things are true.

There really isn't anything that you can't do while you're on your period. It's the same as when you aren't on your period. In fact if you are having problems with cramping often exercise can help relieve them.

Uh you're just on your period... life doesn't change because of it! do what you normally do!
Although I do know that a hot shower will make your flow heavier for a little bit.

You can do anything you would do if you didn't have it. Don't let your period control your life!
(however, i do agree with the "don't wear white pants" thing)
