Sounds like your doctor has Friday night plans. If your contractions are five minutes apart you need to go to the hospital and be seen by someone. Better to make an extra trip than to deliver at home. Every woman and every labor and delivery is different, so there are no rules carved in stone. Good luck and congratulations.

I would encourage you to go to the hospital, it sounds like your baby is just about ready. When I was pregnant my doctor would always told me "you'll know when your in labor" it was my first baby so I didn't know what to expect. I went into preterm labor when I was 35 weeks and they were able to stop the contractions, the contractions were uncomfortable but not enough were I was bent over begging to go to the hospital, I just wanted for the morning to call my doctor and that's when she told me that I was already 3cm and 60% enfaced and to go to the hospital.

The day I had my baby I woke up and felt a little pressure down there and small contractions every 5 minutes. I called my doctor and she sent me to labor and delivery. By the time I got to the hospital I was dilated to 7cm and 100% enfaced. They gave me a little poticin because the contractions started getting slower. I then got an epidural and with an hour and a half I was pushing. I never felt the pain that everyone talks about. So I encouage you to go, everyone is so different, and its better to be safe then sorry. The worst thing that will happen is they send you home.

Another thing is if your planning to get an epidural you must make sure you don't wait too long. Once your in active labor, it's too late... My epidural was wonderful. I felt nothing. They actually had to lower the dose because I couldn't even push enough, my legs were like jello. The hardest part was the pushing her out, and even delivering the placenta was worst.

Anyways I wish you all the luck and hope you and baby do well. It's a blessing to one of your own, your life completely changes.

If they are 5 minutes apart, you should totally go to the hospital. I had contractions 1 minute apart and they topped the charts on the monitors at 100 when I was at the hospital and they were not AT ALL painful! Everyone is different, in my opinion, that was terrible advice from who ever gave it to you. Get going girl and good luck!!! Hope all goes well and you have a beautiful and healthy baby! And may you be blessed with a not so painful birth!!

My doctor said that when I wasn't able to talk through the contractions, it was time to go to the hospital. My contractions were also 5 minutes apart, but not anything that I couldn't deal with. We went anyhow, and I was already 3-4 centimetres and in active labour. I'd err on the side of caution and go get checked. Can't really know for sure because everyone is so different. Good luck!

Because every womans body works different if you are having close contractions and have lost your mucus plug and even if you haven't and the pain is severe I would go in. After three kids no one birth is like another.

i never had excruciating pain in labor, with either of my natural births.

i would have delivered at home if that is the stipulation. so would my mom.

that is stupid!

with my second child my doctor told me i could not possibly be in labor because i could talk through the contractions, i delivered less than 4 hours later (and i was only at a 1 when i went in)

Time to bypass to the wellbeing facility. Mucus and pink are alerts that something is taking place mutually with your cervix. because of the fact which you're having contractions close mutually, i might head on in and spot what they say. you should be protecting a toddler this time the following day!

If your contractions are steadily increasing in frequency and intensity, even if they aren't excrutiating for you, you should probably go get checked out, because yes, it is possible that it might not get excruciating.

Always err on the side of caution.

to be honest with you, i never was able to "count my contractions", when i started having pains that i couldnt sleep thru then i went to the hospital.....it was a good thing i did, because my baby was having heart rate problems. go with your instincts, if you feel you need to go then go! the worse they can do is send you home. good luck & congratulations!
