Music. . .listen long enough and you can hear the heart beat of the world in all of its rythms.
U2 was my favorite band growing up. I loved their music and even at a young age I understood the message hidden with in the lyrics. It would be hard to choose which song of theirs or of any my favorite groups is the most unforgettable. . .
Music flows with my mood and has helped me push through some of the hardest moments in my life.
During my solitary years as an angry teenage girl, Linkin Park emulated the rage I was feeling perfectly. I am a bit disappointed in their newest album. . .but like everything else, you can't hold onto that rage for ever. You have to evolve and grow and let go.
So here are a couple of unforgetable songs from the band And You Will Knows Us by the Trail of Dead.
The song: Will you smile again
The lyrics: And you awake and there you are/ Not far off from the line before/ And just how long did it take for you to understand/ Where your feelings stopped and writing began/ Convince yourself to take control/ Play to the hilt this unlikely role
The song: Worlds apart
The lyrics: How they laughed as we shveled the ashes/ Of the twin towers/ Blood and death, we will pay back the debt/ For this candy store of ours
There are more songs and lyrics, but not enough space
;-)

Pink Floyd, High Hopes

Beyond the horizon of the place we lived when we were young
In a world of magnets and miracles
Our thoughts strayed constantly and without boundary
The ringing of the division bell had begun
Along the long road and on down the causeway
Do they still meet there by the cut
There was a ragged man that followed in our footsteps
Running before time took our dreams away
Leaving the myriad small creatures trying to tie us to the ground
To a life consumed by slow decay
The grass was greener
The light was brighter
With friends surrounded
The nights of wonder
Looking beyond the embers of bridges glowing behind us
To a glimpse of how green it was on the other side
Steps taken forwards but sleepwalking back again
Dragged by the force of some inner tide
At a higher altitude with flag unfurled
We reached the dizzy heights of that dreamed of world

When young, I enjoyed soft rock (for example, 2-part harmonies of Simon & Garfunkel). In 1974, a friend put on a Warner Brothers' "sampler" record and I heard "Purple Haze" by the Jimi Hendrix Experience for the first time. My rock and roll would never be the same again. (as a matter of fact, right now I'm wearing my Jimi Hendrix tee that I bought in '98 at a "head shop" on Broadway in the North Beach section of San Francisco)

Angel by Aerosmith. My boyfriend wasn't much of a dancer but one night at a club he was running sound for a local band and they played Angel. and he decided he wanted to dance so we did.about 2 years after the birth of our child he died in a diabetic coma. So i know now that we truly have an Angel watching over us,I will always remember that night and that song and that dance. He was the reason I lived the reason I died, he is the reason i break down and cry and i don't need no other reason why.

"Love Don't Live Here Anymore" by Madonna.
[Chorus:]
You abandoned me
Love don't live here anymore
Just a vacancy
Love don't live here anymore
When you lived inside of me
There was nothing I could conceive
That you wouldn't do for me
Trouble seemed so far away
You changed that right away, baby
[chorus]
Love don't live here anymore
Just emptiness and memories
Of what we had before
You went away
Found another place to stay, another home
[chorus]
In the windmills of my eyes
Everyone can see the loneliness inside me
Why'd ya have to go away
Don't you know I miss you so and need your love
[chorus]
--- This song embodies the hurt I felt after a 5 year relationship that has ended with a bitter note...

Looking through your eyes by Leanne Rimes is one of my most favorite songs for now. I listen to it many times through the day. The lines in the songs I like best are the entire lyrics.

Damien Rice's "Cannonball".
The lines that are unforgettable:
"there's still a little bit of your taste in my mouth
there's still a little bit of you laced with my doubt
it's still a little hard to say what's going on
there's still a little bit of your ghost your witness
there's still a little piece of your face i haven't kissed
you step a little closer to me
still i can't see what's going on."
