I do online surveys. They do NOT pay a lot, but when you are on social security every little bit helps. You have to research the best online surveys. Sometimes you get a chance to do special surveys that pay 15- 25 dollars for an hour's work. Most of the time you only get a few points per survey and they add up to maybe 20 dollars in a couple of months. Also they have sweepstakes you can win larger amounts of money or nice prizes and gift certificates. I won a $40 gift certificate once. Other surveys give you points you can save up for products such as small appliances, camping equipment, DVDs, and smaller gift certificates and even deposits in a paypal account. The most I have ever earned in one month without earning a special bonus of some kind was $120. I am signed up with six survey companies and they send survey offers to my email address.
You have to be careful of the unscrupulous surveys. Don't be duped into those that offer you prizes worth a lot of money right off. They just send you on a wild goose chase and you have to agree to buy several different offers to get the prize.
Sometimes you can get products to test for companies. I have done many such testing of products in my family over the past couple of years and it is kind of fun to do that plus you get good products free. They are not things like laptops and cell phones. They are things like diapers, shampoo, and poptarts.

Some are legit and some are not.
There are some that find ways to ask you a bunch of questions and then say you aren't qualified. They get paid for you answering those questions. So if you want to put money in someone else's pocket - go for it.
The legit ones will not cost you any money to be a part of. There are many legitimate home survey organizations.
Read about mystery shopping- and most of what they say about it is true of survey companies to. Some mystery shopping companies specialize is home shopping, delivery, phone orders, etc. Check companies out here: http://www.mysteryshop.org/
THis companies rates how good companies are by the people who work for them. Survey companies included: ttp://www.volition.com/mystery.html

I did for about 6 months...never saw a bloody dime! But its your choice....and you might get lucky. Follow your gut feeling.
IF you feel uneasy about it (apparently you do or you wouldn't have asked) then don't do it.
I taught my daughter from early on to follow her gut feeling and it has kept her out of more bad situations than she can count.

It's basically a scam to harvest your personal information (which they can sell for more than they pay you - If they ever do)
