Most hardwood flooring goes for $3-4 per sqft. while installation will run you an additional $5 per sqft. Sit in on one of the Saturday seminars at Home Depot or grab a book on do it yourself flooring tips for around $10. It's not as hard as people make it out to be and with a little confidence in your own abilities you can save over 50% vs. professional installation.

Whether you're installing a real plank or laminated floor you really need to have some good carpentry skills and the right equipment to do the job. Honestly, if none of the above are applicable I strongly suggest that you hire a pro or get one to help you.

relies upon on the locking or tongue and groove equipment on the engineered flooring. The floating floor from laminate has a equipment that locks the boards at the same time. a typical t&g floor will buckle with moisture/humidity differences whilst put in tightly devoid of nails. The circulation of the timber once you walk on it is going to reason separation in a loose or floating t&g floor singe the grooves are actually not locking. possibly a bad thought for the long-term. sturdy success nonetheless.

if you are asking the question then i would say hire someone the cost of the wood flooring would be hard to swallow if you messed it up. I have done it but it was a pain and I wished halfway through it i would have hired someone.

No. It is actually pretty easy. You will pay twice as much getting someone to install it for you too. It is a matter of, making sure your wood was properly acclimated to your house, prepping the surface your wood will be laying on, and knocking them tightly together.

Ive tried DIY at home. Its tedious. If you have the time and patience go for it. But i recommend a professional because its going to be there for a long time and you might want it to look and feel good.

I guess it depends on how handy you are. Personally I would hire someone. But my brother did his own and it looks good.

You can do it your self. They came with instructions and if you are having trouble then just go to home depot on the Internet, they have step by step instructions.
