Im trying to make an adapter for the Wii console

It uses a 12V in with 5amps
I have an adapter that says 12v and 15 amps, and im wondering how to change its amperage. i would get the normal one made for wii, but i cant find it anywhere!

thank you!
(ps the wii is for this trip, which gets VERY booring, and im hookin the wii to the back seat DVD ,so me n my bro can play!)

Your Wii console spec is 12V and 5A. If you have access to the fuse of your adapter you can change its fuse (15A) with a 5A fuse to match your Wii console. I assume that the fuse is a glass tube with metal cap at both ends. The amperage rating of the fuse is usually stamped on the metal cap.
The original 15A fuse of the adapter will also work but be sure the wires of the adapter have no shorts.

Swapping fuses shouldn't have anything to do with a 4 hour trip.
Fuse values are stamped in the metal ends of cylindrical fuses and in the metal legs of the fuses with two side tabs. The latter also are usually color coded and have the amperage printed in white on the other edge that shows.
15 watts is 1.25 amps and most of the fuses in a car are 5, 10, 15, or 20 amps.

Don't swap the fuses in your fuse box. That is a good way to start a fire.

Get youself a 110V power inverter. You can pick them up at any of the Parts Stores like Pepboys.

By changing the amperage rating of the fuses in your fuse box, you can actually do damage to other necessary systems on your car. Some of that damage could be quite costly, especially if that damage includes a Main Processor in your vehicle's computer system. Some of those computers can cost as much as a new Laptop or Desktop.

I hope I helped you out, and just be sure to check your amperage rating on the power inverter. I will connect directly to your cigarette lighter socket.

Good Luck!

If the fuse has the voltage (V) and the Watts (W) written on it, you can use the equation for Power, (P) which is measured in watts and is equal to Volts times Amps (I) or P=VxI. If you know P and V, then you can use do some algebra to arrive at P divided by V equals I or P/V=I 15/12= 1.25 amps

Go to an auto parts store such as o'reilly or advance auto parts, they'll be able to help you out.
