None of above answers r right...they had no civilisation at all....neither good leaders....they weren't good fighters either...they didn't even have good thing to use them to fight and they were nothing except the looters in the Arabia deserts b4 Islam rised! after that they had one thing that made it possible for them to destroy the great empire of persia (Sassanids)...it was faith! b4 Islam they didn't even "think" to get near persian empire and they weren't counted at all for persian empire. and this was the power of Islam and the faith that made it possoble to have many victories. they went to fight for God...to extend Islam...and they knew and thought like they'll be in paradise if they die...so they had nothing to be scared from. nothing to lose. so they fought and won. so was their fights in western. they could go to spain.
The logic says u won't win the most advance army...but i think if there is faith and brave ppl, u'll win.
I hope this answered

The Eastern Roman Empire and Sassanian Persia were both exhausted after their twenty-year war. Syria, Palestine, Egypt and much of Anatolia had been occupied by the Persians. Large groups in the population were heretical sects opposed to the Empire.
