It pains me to say no,---but I truly believe that each one fears that they will be destroyed by the other.
We had completely different interests, resources, and attitudes as we proceeded through history, and now we have become a serious threat to one another.

OK, if you're asking if there is a way for fundamentalist Christians to co-exist in peace with fundamentalist Muslims, the right answer is no, not unless they have no contact with each other whatsoever. Neither group has any intention of living in peace with the rest of the world. The essence of all religious fundamentalism is a belief that other religions are somehow vermin religions and that by extension their congregations are less than human. By this belief system, any government that violates some tenet or another of the religion's structure is a vermin government at best and at worst a threat that needs to be eradicated. I've mentioned Christians and Muslims here, but it holds true for practically all religions. The chances that one religious culture is going to set out to actually decimate another relies strongly on it's teachings. Does it have things in there that say stuff like "spread the word at the point of a sword"? Look at that and you have the answer.

I believe it's the other way around.
Here in the states, Islamic fundamentalists need to co-exist with Americans. They moved here, we didn't drag them over the border to set up shop.
The laws that count, are the ones already established here. I've heard of some IF's, wanting their own set of laws to live under in this country. If they want Islamic law to live under, jump back on the plane and go back to your old country.
Now if you want to assimilate, like my ancestors did, then fine welcome aboard and lets talk. You don't have to give up your customs, but realize you chose to come here, so adjustments may have to be made.
Don't get me wrong. I love different cultures, that's what makes life interesting. But when someone marches in the street, waves their parent country's flag and refuse's to speak English, then I have an issue with that.
Anyways, I'll meet you half way buddy. Just remember, our flags red, white and blue, English is the language spoken here and you worship how you want, as I'll worship how I want.

How well would YOU get along with someone who thinks you should either convert or be killed?
Here's what the fundamentalists believe:
1) Men are superior to women.(Surah 2:228)
2) Women have half the rights of men:
a. In court witness.(Surah 2:282)
b. in inheritance.(Surah 4:11)
3) A man may beat his wife.(Surah 4:34)
4) A man may marry up to four wives at the same time.(Surah 4:3)
5) Muslims must fight until their opponents submit to Islam.(Surah 9:5)
6) A Muslims must not take Jews or Christians for friends.(Surah 5:54)
7) A Muslim apostate must be killed.(Surah 9:12)
8) Stealing is punished by the amputation of the hands.(Surah 5:41)
9) Adultery is punished by public flogging.(Surah 4:2)
10) No separation between Church and State.(Surah 2:193)
11) No opposition party allowed.(Surah 4:59)

This is Earth, not Utopia. All the "If we both just leave each other alone there would be peace", is bunk. Islamic fundamentalists believe in their hearts it is their job to either convert you to their religion, or kill you. So live in peace all you want, they wont.

NO. It is impossible to co-exist with religious fanatics that justify killing you because you do not share their beliefs. It has little to do with America. It is all nations that do not share their religious beliefs.
There stated goal is to destroy all that do not believe, and it is an honor to kill any unbelievers. It is also justified to kill innocent bystanders in this endeavor.

No more than it is to exist with christian fundamentalists. Should we start a shock and awe campaign against churches and organized religions?

I don't know, wasn't Yasser Arafat considered a terrorist in the 70's and 80's? Now he's a icon of peace in the middle east. There is always room to compromise
