I've been asked by people I know, to come up with some
ideas about how to prevent World Hunger, and although I
do have an idea or two, I'd like to find out how other people
are helping with this type of project, and what ideas we can
share, to help with this Outreach.
Many elderly persons, Disabled Persons, and Single Family
households, especially those who are on ''fixed incomes'' &
low-incomes, cannot always afford to purchase the foods for
proper nutrition. I am one of those individuals. I want to
speak out, on behalf of others, but I'm just out of ideas...
and this is a needed Commodity, for the people across the
American States.
Is there a way, a resolution can be done, without depleting
the funds of the Government, any further? Please do share
some ideas.
All of us need to take part in this, as much as possible...
I do believe it is the responsibility of all of us, to be neighborly,
no matter how far the ''neighbor'' lives from us. Too Funny
Hunger isn't??

You won't like my answers, but here goes:
NUMBER ONE (#1) STOP THE POPULATION GROWTH! 50 years ago, people in Bengladesh were starving to death by the millions. If you check the "news" (not CBS, FOX, et al, but the NEWS) you will find out that the people of Bengladesh are still starving to death by the millions.
Humans are the only species to keep reproducing when there are inadequate food supplies. Scientists claim that without pesticides, insecticides, herbicides and all the other poisons we use, the world could support approximately 1 billion people; current population estimates are 6.75 billion.
#2. Quit building cities in prime farm land. Whether it is Hutchinson, Kansas, Grand Island, Nebraska, Ft. Collins, Colorado, Sacramento, CA, or where ever, cities are always built in prime farm land, leaving farmers to farm in poor soils, poor conditions, using much more poison and water to grow the crops than would be needed if they were allowed to farm in good farm land.
#3. DON'T GIVE TO THE RED CROSS and all those others; if you know of someone in need, help them out. There is no reason why the people directing the Red Cross, etc., should receive millions of dollars annually to do what any one can do.
I am married to a Filipina; believe me, I know lots of needy people who get no help whatsoever from places like the Red Cross who could certainly use the assistance!
#4. People should quit wasting: how many times has someone's Mother said, "Don't waste your food, there are millions (now it is billions) of people around the world who go to bed hungry"?
There are so many others, but this would end hunger, if put into practice.
And I AM an elderly, disabled Veteran...on a "fixed income".

Stop spending your money on 300 dollar ipods and entertaining equipment. Imagine how much food that could buy. Sacrificing your ipod (just using it as an example, not trying to guilt trip anyone,I have an Ipod myself) could buy over 100 meals for someone in a poor country. I think that we should also be spending money to educate those in poor countries. That way, they can get jobs which earn more money to help their communities.
