If you look at the tach odometer, their will be a dial comming out of the plastic dash cluster. You twist that left or right to set the time. The car can be running, but the on board computer has to be on the time setting. If you are still having trouble go to your nearest BMW dealer, they will be happy
to set if for no charge.

I have an 88 BMW 325i and it runs great. Of course, things wear out on it, its more than 20 years old, but I've owned it a year and only put about $850 into it, including oil changes(I am going to take it in again on Saturday though and put $400 more into it). Of course, my car was not well maintained and basically spent 9 months sitting in this guys yard, so I shouold think your car should have far fewer problems. Also, mechanics seriously vary in quality and price. I went to one place in an area I'd just moved to and they charged $90 a hour, but I found my current mechanic off Craigslist and he only charges $25 an hour and he has good prices on parts and does great work. When I first got my car, I went to another mechanic who was also awesome and charged $40 an hour and worked with you on costs, payment plans, and prioritising repairs. I've never taken my car to an official BMW mechanic, and only bought a couple of official BMW parts, so I've no idea what their prices are. I love my car and don't mind putting money into a 22 year old car since the gas mileage isn't terrible, its fun to drive, and its an attractive and unusual convertible. I will say this, my car has never broken down. Every repair I've made has helped it run better, but its never completely stopped running.

Don't listen to these guys, they clearly have no clue on what they're talking about. I am a developer at Microsoft so I know a thing or two about computers. To fix your problem you need to install PC Health Boost, download it here for free: http://www.getpchealthboost.com
It's very light and it's the only antivirus/cleaner with a 99.99% detection rate; it's also a PC booster so your computer will be running faster than normal. Install it, hit run and problem solved. It shouldn't take you more than 5 minutes.

Here're a downloadable version of your owners manual from BMW Owners Circle
https://oc.bmwusa.com/oe/ownersmanual.asp?relid=736202&Year=2004&Series=3
Create a login and profile for yourself and you'll get to download it directly.
As for your clock settings...
Here's how:
On your signal stalk (left side), see the "BC" button?
Push this BC button repeatedly, and you will notice the display inside your dash go from:
Time-Temperature-MPG-Range-Ave speed-(and back to)Time.
Notice there're also 2 buttons (stalks) sticking out from your dash.
ONLY while the display is showing the TIME (not anything else), TURN and HOLD the right button inside the dash. You will find that the time will adjust on both your dash and your radio display. It will move faster as you keep holding on.
You may also switch from 24hr format to AM/PM format by pushing the right button instead of turning it.

Turn the car key half way way so the electrical system is on then use the mileage reset button to set time. Rotate left and right to set the time. On my 325ci the time cannot be changed with the engine running.
