My friend, this is one of the best questions since Jesus lived. The sad truth is that most people, of whatever faith, only use their religion when it suits them. As far as Christians go, most ignore the humanity teachings of Jesus. They go to church and proclaim their belief in the virgin birth and resurrection, then think their soul's rear is clear.

A black entertainer, a comedian I think spoke of how he was with a white family for Thanksgiving. He spoke of how different it was from his experience with his black family. I am not sure of the right word but the white people were more solemn, rigid, formal.
With his black family they showed more joy of being together at the table. The atmosphere was lighter, informal, more like a picnic than a rigid dinner like you might eat at the White House.
I don't know why blacks are more boisterous or unrestrained but I think that is part of why we don't worship together. I think we worship in the atmosphere that we are both accustomed to and that makes us feel the most comfortable.
It is much the same way people pick their friends. I am not friends with every white person. We choose our friends by cultural characteristics, and having the same social position. I think the cultural differences are enough to separate blacks and whites into different churches.

Churches, of all places, seem to hold on to racism more than most other organizations. They don't admit to it, but it becomes obvious from seeing the segregation that you are talking about.
It might be that because people often go to the church in their own neighborhoods it becomes more apparent that our communities are still segregated to a large extent.

quit being so obtuse. it is a cultural disconnect, and there is no spiritual or moral law that even asks, much less mandates, everyone has to worship with everyone else in the same way. so, when is the last time you put on the ceremonial dress of a jew to worship whatever it is you worship? should a hindu temple expect muslims to worship in their form of discipline?
since you have NO clue... tolerance would be muslims NOT blowing up jews for once and love would be demonstrated by any selfless act that helps another.

The church color issue isn't about segregation. It's more about congregation. The races just prefer to congregate with their own kind when it comes to church and worship. I know it's separation, but not necessarily segregation.
In my opinion. =)

Our stupidity, and lack of godly love. Heaven will never be segregated, and there are many churches that that are racially mixed.
One point to consider is that the way in which various people are comfortable in their method of worship leads them to groups of like mind. IF that is what "they" may wish to do, that is their choice. If it is for anything else, then their cause is wrong, and will be judged one day.

A lot of neighborhoods themselves tend to be de facto segregated, which neighborhood churches reflect. Churches tend to be cultural centers, they are not just for prayer but are for hanging out with like people. I don't think it's a good idea and you bring up a good question.

The Christian church is a farce created by racist Roman Catholics. If Christianity was real why did they allow the slaves to practice it, but denied them education? The racists didn't care about black ppl's souls.
And white ppls church is dry, no life to it.

Being with some people is worse than Hell....
Churches excel at keeping people addicted to the next life so that they don't demand fair treatment in this one. As far as Mr. Man is concerned, there's zero difference between poor black and poor white as long as you keep them uneducated, hatin' and prayin'....

The church isnt totally segregated, i mean we would welcome each other into our church, but i think that because of events in the past we tend to feel more comfortable with our own ethniticity. but doesnt mean we don't accept each other
