You don't; the Golden Gloves are a boxing award.

The Gold Gloves are voted on by managers and coaches (NOT writers or other media personnel) for players within their own league, with the caveat that they cannot vote for anyone on their own team. I have no idea if ballots have only one slot, or if there are several, ranked slots.

Individual positions awarded are first base, second base, third base, shortstop, catcher, and pitcher. All outfielders are considered as one position and the top three voter-getters per league win GGs.

over the last couple years they have also looked at offense as well as defense...because there are some phenominal fielders not winning gold gloves....because i remeber 3 or 4 years ago aaron rowand only made about 3 errors and made some great catches and hunter still won it even when he missed a little less than half the season...and everyone loves offense now a days so i hate to say it but sometimes offense is a big contributor and they were tlaking about this issue about a year ago on baseball tonight..it really made me realize its true

In American baseball, the Rawlings Gold Glove Award, usually referred to simply as the Gold Glove, is the award given annually to the major league player judged to have the most "superior individual fielding performance" at each position (in each league), as voted by the managers and coaches in each league.[1] Managers are not allowed to vote for their own players.[1] Eighteen Gold Gloves are awarded each year, one at each of nine positions to a player in both the National League and American League.

Well its just that, have a truly golden glove. However, the players popularity and offense plays a huge part in the winners even know it shouldnt. Albert pujols? not near the best 1b but he won in 06...andrew jones? good but there is better...

You need to appear to be the best fielder at your position in the league, then the other players and managers vote for you. Often times the actual best fielders do not win, but the 2nd or 3rd best. The ones the writers like voting for.

You have to be an exceptional fielder in the eyes of the voters for the winners. This includes fielding percentage, range, and outfield assists. Range is important, because you can cover alot more ground, and therefore are more valuable in the field. Its pretty similar to a Silver Slugger, just for fielding.

I fell asleep early last night and wake up to see that Chipmaker has said ever thing I wanted to say. So the only thing left for me to say is, "have a nice day".

It's not about having the least amount of errors at your position. It's more about demonstrating the most effective defense at that position all year.
