Is it the solenoid or the switch?

Sorry for lack of details, it is a 1994 OMC Cobra 5.0 Inboard. I found out that there is a rest on the trim pump, resetting this seems to fix the problem, however I think the relays may need to be replaced, I assume they are located near the trim pump but I am not sure. Thanks

First go to parts store and buy marine repair manual. If you are real lucky it is only a fuse on the red wire right by the motor itself. There are a lot of reasons why! don't have room to tell you all of them! You did not say but it is probably a Mercruiser?

It's getting power to go up? So the motor working either the switch, solenoid,or wires.to the trim motor. As you didn't say whether it is a inboard or outboard? That makes a big difference.

I think the switch could be your problem. But there is two relays on your trim, one for up and one for down. You may want to try to jump the relay that makes it go down. Hope this helps

The solenoid. Try drilling a hole into the switch and connecting a car 12 volt car battery to it and hit run. Good luck.
