If an application needs a certain minimum RAM space to run, and that amount is not available, then some other application(s) that are not currently running are moved to the page file to make room for the new application that you want to run. RAM is the only place an application can run. The page file is like a parking garage or holding pen. If you think the page file is being used too much, then add more RAM to your system. For Windows XP, 1 GB is probably about minimum these days to keep the use of the page file to a minimum. If you have Windows Vista, I suggest 2 GB of SRAM.

Simply turn off the pagefile. The computer can't use it if you turn it off. If you find yourself running out of RAM, you'd better buy more.

I'm not sure there is a way to have a pagefile, but prioritize the different types of memory beyond what the computer already does.

You can try lowering the amount of space used for pagefiles. I didnt think computers used pagefiles unless the ram was reaching full anyhow...

at the startup..... u see like a page that shows stuff...u know windows...loading...press f12 or esc or something like that for options.....u will see the memory distribution......look for the ram......u can see how much each card has and how much memory its using on what.... cahnge it to match what u use the most memory for...if u dont have enough, im afraid u need an upgrade.

if its running right, then it will use your ram first. but if you already know the answer, you should get a good job.
