"why aren't you fighting for our country in Iraq"

This to me shows the ignorance and immaturity on the left. Is this the only thing "some of them" can say to support an arguement. This shows lack of knowledge of this great nation. STOP WATCHING THE DAILY SHOW AS YOUR MAIN NEWS SOURCE.

They aren't smart enough to come up with a real argument. Plus they really think the "Daily Show" is a real news show.

I think what liberals are attacking is the hollow patriotism that has become so chic.

Slapping a bumper sticker on your car is not doing anything. When the President says don't sacrifice just continue like there is no war going on, which was a first ever, I think people get frustrated. There has been this notion that this war was going to be a cinch, super easy and quick.

I think a lot of liberals knew this wasn't going to be the case and are irritated with the incompetency of the administration.

PS the Daily Show isn't my main news source. However Fox News viewers are some of the least informed viewers- failing basic current affairs questionnaires.

Though I am not sure how this statement shows a "lack of knowledge of this great nation" - should we be proud that we started a war against a non-threatening country which has resulted in so much death?

Because of the numerous cowards who are all for other people dying in their place. In WWII, if you had two good legs and a pulse, you went to fight. Why? Because that generation knew what was at stake, believed in the struggle, and put their lives on the line. A cheerleading chickenhawk in that era would have been an absolute disgrace.

Now, we are divided as a nation in the Iraq question. Most of us want out of that quagmire and the return of our friends and family to the safety of their homes. Some believe that we are doing the right thing in Iraq and are serving in uniform because the depth of their belief is so great. But the remainder are the vile few who hide behind our military, seeing them as mere numbers. Casualties "don't matter" because there were more in other wars. War tself is a game played on a map, not blood and death. And fighting? That's for the "volunteers." If you had asked any of the 3600 soldiers in the ground because of this collossal over-reach, "Do you want to die in a desert for WMDs that never existed?" how many do you think would say yes?

So if you are able, and support the war, go fight it. Otherwise, you have no credability. If this conflict is not worth your life, why would it be worth anyone else's?

Maybe because it's true. What has America had to sacrifice in this "war" in Iraq? Republicans don't support the draft, they claim that the volunteer military is doing just fine. It's not. It's strained to the breaking point. All I see on here is a bunch of blowhards hiding behind a keyboard saying support the President and the troops while doing nothing to ease their burden. If anything the are making it even more difficult on the troops by extending their tours of duty and redeploying them at ever faster rates. Is that your definition of support?

I fought in Vietnam. I'm sick of seeing people support an illegal and immoral war waged by chickenhawks who dodged the draft or deserted when they were able to serve. If people really believe in something they should be ready to actually do something to back up there beliefs, like serve themselves rather than send someone else. I get news from the newspaper, NPR, network television, and the Internet. The Daily Show is entertainment.

I think it shows that many people are tired of those on the right making decisions that will lead to the death of soldiers while they themselves would never make that sacrifice because they think they are above service!

They are chickenhawks.

People who make the policy should put their money where their mouth is!

If you are a citizen and you follow the chickenhawks in the administration decisions it shows you are willing to hold and espouse emptiness since you yourself would never risk your own neck...but you don't care that others will!!

we're not fighting to defend our country, that's why...there's MORE than enough evidence to show Iraq was never a threat...so we aren't going to risk our lives to make the bush family and Haliburton richer...

I don't use that argument.

But just for the record, Jon Stewart does a better job informing the public than most network news stations. Which, considering the fact he's first and foremost a comedian, is pretty sad.

Libs say tons of ridiculous things. It's ridiculous that they say they think for themselves, yet they repeat identical anti-American mantras as if connected to the Borg. It's ridiculous that libs think the Daily Show has real news and that FOX news is made up (sorry libs, See-BS news has been proven to air made up news, get back to us when you have any evidence FOX has done this).
Anyway, the reason for this is that when you shake a libs head, you hear a pea rattling around inside a coconut, there's not much reasoned thought going on inside
