No.
Nothing would ever get me to like the yankees---NOTHING!
And I dislike people who hate the yankees JUST because of their payroll.
If the owner of The Tigers had Steinbrenner's kind of money I sure hope he would re-invest into his team.
If you are going to hate the yankees, hate them for all the right reasons, not the wrong ones.
Hate them because they think they are the ONLY team in baseball. Hate them because they are Rude, Obnoxious, Inconsiderate, Thoughtless, and downright skanky and nasty.

I wouldn't hate them as much. But I would still HATE them. One thing I will state is that the Yanks have had trouble buying a championship in the past few years.
What I HATE about the Yankees is their fans. They are all front runners. Half of the fans aren't from the state of New York. They all talk about how good their team is and how they love A-Rod (funny last year they all hated him).
To make a long story longer, what I HATE about the Yankees the most is that they practically own the media. They are all over ESPN (Eastern Sports Programming Network as I often refer to them by because of their biased opinions for New York and Boston teams.) and all other types of sports media. When they do good they are all over the news. But, like it is nowadays, when they do bad they are also over the news. I could care less about a bad team in the MLB unless it is my own team. You don't see ESPN talking about who in the Pirates organization is going to be fired next. No, when you hear about the Pirates, it is....... Well......... I can't say I ever hear any news on the Pirates. And thats the way it should be. If the team is bad screw em and let them get by on their own without the media.
To shorten an already long story I HATE THE YANKEES.

It would take a lot of hate away, but there is still a deep hateful passion inside all Yankee bashers that most have grown a custom to.
It would definately make the game more fair, and free agency less of a joke, so it would help. However, and I don't mean this in a spiteful way, if you take away a chunk of the Yankees' salary, they would become the laughing stock of the league considering they can barely maintain a .500 record with the current payroll they have.
However, since this scenario would only be a dream, I don't think we should worry about it. But to answer your question, on a scale of 1-10, I currently rate them at 12 but if the payroll was equal amount to other teams, 7.

Large payroll or small payroll makes no difference to me, once a Dodger fan always a Dodger fan. I don't ever like to hear anyone say I am bitter because of the seven times the Yankees have beaten the Dodgers in the world series, I want to tell everyone myself.

Maybe. If they proved they could win on intelligent moves rather than luck and aggressive spending alone, I'd be impressed. However, the Yankees being the Yankees, their aggressive spending is beginning to backfire, and players in their prime stay away from them like the plague because of the harsh and fickle atmosphere.

If championships could be "bought", the Yankees would win every year. Since they do not, their is obviously more to it than payroll.
This is just the chant of mindless, jealous fans of loser teams around the country because they hear it on their local "sports radio" shows.

Nope.
I don't like the errogance of Steinbrener. When he goes, I might change my perspective on the team.
But the huge payroll does make it that much easier to hate them. But I do have a question for Yankee fans:
How is that huge payroll going? Are you making the playoffs this year?

No. Unless you are from New York you have no reason to like the Yankees unless you are a front runner.
