I am not a feminist. not sure why you think an average women is turned off by a man showing his emotions.
I am NOT turned off by a man showing his emotions. i would rather have him show them then act like a macho man. everyone has emotions everyone. why is that when anyone cry people get uneasy? It's just part of life people cry. so why can't women or men accept that? there is NO shame in crying unless you do it to hurt someone or to get your own way then that is wrong. just my 2 cents

Actually, an "average woman" isn't necessarily turned off by a man crying - it would depend on -why- he's crying. Sometimes, it makes a man -more- attractive to a woman if he's not afraid to let his sensitive side be seen during some appropriate moment or another. Now if he cries because he lost a round of Monopoly or some such, -that- would be a turn-off all around, I believe.
As for feminists, they're not Borg. Feminists are a diverse enough group that there really isn't even a "generalized" stance which can be ascribed to them in this regard.

Everyone has a different definition feminism, and every feminist is different. But the way I react to someone crying, male or female, depends on the situation. I have a girlfriend who is a big cry baby, and I'd react to her crying not as sympathetically as someone who was more selective in their crying. It doesn't matter if the person is male or female, it totally depends what the situation is.

Some feminists (and women in general) are so evolved that they wouldn't even have that lamentable response to a man crying,......some would maintain awareness of and minimize that lamentable response.
The remaining half or so would do what comes naturally, because they're not self-aware and they're complacent.

I think it depends on the man & why he's crying. That's a different story for another day!! Sorry. Normally it's a lot better to see a man emotional, trying to decifer what to do. Rather than a arrogant sloth, to weak to show his emotion, at the risk of being vulnerable, to the strength of a women. I like both ends of the spectrum..it shows a true man. Honesty is always best. Thanks for asking.

Given the social stigma put on men for crying, my initial reaction would be one of no little alarm. Something must really be wrong.
But even if the reason for tears was not catastrophic, I would register sympathy and even a certain amount of admiration (as I hold for all those who would thwart stereotypes)

I think that when men cry it moves me more than when a woman does it...it is so difficult for men to allow themselves to show their emotions- they go to every length to hold back tears, so when tears do come...you know they are feeling so deeply that they can't hold it in...and that strikes an empathetic cord in me. I don't see shedding tears as a weakness.

Women are not turned off by it, they are just uncomfortable and do know really know what to do because it is ingrained in our minds that its not supposed to happen. I myself like a man that can cry!!!

The same way I'd react to a crying woman. With empathy. Why would anyone react otherwise?
