What if a normal joe ran for president in 2008 or 2012, would you vote for someone that was not previously in politics?

Say the guy was just some businessman that cared about the way things are going and wants to help America become the country we know it can be! Safe, educated, free, and proud of everything their country does.

Say the guy has experienced a lot of what life has to offer. Maybe he has graduated HS went to college, used drugs, been to jail, been homeless and came back, and now has two wonderful boys and a wife who loves him. Would you hold his past experiences against him or would it make him a better leader for all he has experienced?

Hmmm. You mean like Ross Perot? Or Ralph Nader? Or someone completely unknown -- Joe Burkle, for example?

Are you talking about Me?! I'M a "normal Joe"- and I've never run for anything but a place at the Dinner Table. It also happens- that I DO care about the way things are going in this Country- and I've seen MORE than enough of it, to be VERY proud to live in such a great place. But you know, -Americans would NEVER vote for me for President. They want "flash", they want "charisma", they want to be "bamboozled" into thinking that I'm going to get them everything they WANT- and they're not going to have to do a THING to get it! -And the fact IS, they're not going to want to HEAR- what me (an "average Joe") is going to have to tell them! So the answer to your question IS, -No. -Americans would NEVER willingly vote for me... They already HAVE what they "asked for" in the past couple of Elections. And that's EXACTLY what they deserve... :)

Jimmy Carter nor Ronnie Reagan nor Bill Clinton were very well known, and they were all voted in as president. So anything can happen, when it comes to politics. Look how far Ross Perot got, too and he was a nut-case. Nowadays, if you've got the bucks, you can buy just about anything.

Americans are safe, educated and some educated by the best, we have our freedom and are Proud of our Country, so guess there is no need for some unknown person to run.

Depends on the person if they had no criminal background have morals done what was right and followed through on their promises. I would vote for them in a heartbeat. We need someone who knows what a budget is about, someone who cares about things, and has never even thought about taking money from a lobbyist. Oh yea and will research something before they decide.

Your avatar should run!

Seriously - we all want someone just like us to run. Or someone we can look up to. Don't see anyone like that just yet. I could vote for an unknown if he came clean - even if he had a "past" but had learned from it.
