It's a lot quicker killing them to eat than letting them fight and end up bleeding to death, mind you although I would NEVER agree to this practise, there are many more animals than chickens used in fighting, I think the main people that do this kind of thing are not very educated and it's (unfortunately) a way that they try and make money.
No one with half a brain would actually be involved with this kind of thing ANyway.
Actually to the person that wrote about hens being treated differently or cared for much better when they are bred to be eaten is mis informed: I worked on a Poultry Farm and saw first hand how these hens are raised and treat, and it is in no way kind to them. Very Sad.

My roosters fight every day. The big difference with them and people who have roosters fights is that my roosters are free and can get away from one another. The so called fighting chickens are one of two breeds, the first is called old English Games. These are the banty size breed. There is also a new English Game breed that is very aggressive, just like the banty breed.

I had an old English game rooster, and had to get rid of him because he attack everyone and thing in sight, even the cats.

There is nothing wrong with raising fighting chickens as long as they are not put with another rooster. In fact, many of them win at country Fairs.

What is bad is when people put them in an arena and let them fight. Their eyes can be tore out, or even worse, death can occur.

One form is out in the open where people can see it.

The other is behind closed doors were we can hide our heads in the sand and ignore it.

If the public was really exposed to the way we treat our animals, many of us would vomit and become vegetarians.

Ever go to a *****-fight? I have, in the Philippines

Ever go and see how Chickens are raised for human consumption in the USA? I have.

I'm not sure which is worse. They both suck equally bad.

I still eat chicken.

Peace

What is so bad is that they are living, breathing things. WHY would you cause them the kind of pain that is caused from fighting them time after time?

It is entirely different to raise them with the idea of using them to lay eggs or eating them. They are killed instantly when used for food. There is a major difference in their care, wouldn't you agree?

No one has the right to inflict torture or pain on anything or anyone. That is sick. What is there to gain from it?

I just realized that all organized animal fighting is frowned upon in most "western" societies. Guess we think it's savage and cruel, and also there's the unregulated gambling part.

maybe we should try more man vs animal, like bullfighting.

commercial chickens are fed their own crap - check it out
