Truthfully when it comes to the politicians it comes down to if you want foreplay or not.
Both sides are out for what they can get (money and power) you don't get career politicians because they really care about us, look that what they were trying to do with the immigration bill.

In theory the Democrats are big government socialist. They believe the government should take care of all its citizen every need. And to do that they strip us of our individuality and property. The Republicans are big government busy bodies. They think we should fend for ourselves but they want to use the police powers of the state to control what we watch on TV, read in books, and do in our own homes and bedrooms.
In practice there's really not much difference. That's why you have Democrats voting for gun control laws and Republicans voting for tax increases, tariffs and legalizing illegals. Its due to the fact that they both place political expediency above whatever, minimal principles they may have. That's why you have Democrats risking the lives of our soldiers in the field to score political points, and Republicans opening the southerner border to unlimited imigration.
I'd check out the Libertarian Party. I don't agree with their idea that we can stop terrorism by wringing our hands about past policy mistakes. But other than that they are the only political party that places our Freedom above all else.

Traditionally, Republicans supported less involvement in the lives of the individual, smaller federal government, more fiscal responsibility.
Democratics were more liberal with a larger government, more restrictions on the individual, a greater social safety net, and typically, more social spending.
Both parties were patriotic and supported the military, although the Republicans typically supported it more.
Now look at the $3.3 trillion in NEW national debt the Bush Administration (Republican Congress) has built (almost $9 trillion total), invasion of private American lives, Corporate Welfare, single bid contracts for their buddies, and you tell me what the Republican Party has become.
I don't have a clue anymore.

Democratic Party- "The Democratic Party has a long and proud history of representing and protecting the interests of working Americans and guaranteeing personal liberties for all. The 2000 National Platform emphasized three key Democratic Party ideals: (1) Prosperity - sustaining and strengthening the economic growth that brought opportunities to so many Americans in the 1990s; (2) Progress - paying attention to the aspects of our lives that cannot be measured in economic terms but which have a deep impact on our everyday existence; and (3) Peace - more than just the absence of war it means protecting America's security wherever it is endangered and promoting democratic values around the world."
"Republican Principles
I'm a Republican Because...
I BELIEVE the strength of our nation lies with the individual and that each person’s dignity, freedom, ability and responsibility must be honored.
I BELIEVE in equal rights, equal justice and equal opportunity for all, regardless of race, creed, sex, age or disability.
I BELIEVE free enterprise and encouraging individual initiative have brought this nation opportunity, economic growth and prosperity.
I BELIEVE government must practice fiscal responsibility and allow individuals to keep more of the money they earn.
I BELIEVE the proper role of government is to provide for the people only those critical functions that cannot be performed by individuals or private organizations, and that the best government is that which governs least.
I BELIEVE the most effective, responsible and responsive government is government closest to the people.
I BELIEVE Americans must retain the principles that have made us strong while developing new and innovative ideas to meet the challenges of changing times.
I BELIEVE Americans value and should preserve our national strength and pride while working to extend peace, freedom and human rights throughout the world.
FINALLY, I believe the Republican Party is the best vehicle for translating these ideals into positive and successful principles of government."

In today's days....
When it comes to Domestic policy.
Democrats are more closely Socialists.
Republicans are more closely Fascists.
They both are Corporatists and Capitalists.
Seems the difference in their approach to Foreign policy is that the Democrats believe in Diplomatic economic globalization...while the Republicans believe in militarized economic globalization.

The Democratic party has a urban philosophy: when people live in densely populated communities they need to share resources. The Republican party is, philosophically, a rural party. When people live in isolated circumstances, they depend on themselves to meet their needs. More than half the population of the United States now lives in cities. Many of the people who vote Republican do not realize they are voting against their own self-interest.

The last three letters of Republican spell "can", and the last three letters of Democrat spell "rat". This is representative of all their other aspects as well.

It seems to me that all I see on these answers are republicans who need a little cheese with their whine!!! I have a lot of friends who are republican and feel very stupid about the choices they have made in putting this president in office. Democrats are hard working, passionate, caring and loving people who try to take care of the masses. Republicans take care of themselves and to hell with starving children and homeless families.
