Hi,

.375 because 3/8 = .375

2/3 because there are 36 inches in a yard, so 24/36 = 2/3

1/4 because there are 5,280 feet in a mile then

1,320/5,280 = 1/4

6 eighths because 3/4 = 382/4*2 = 6/8

40 hundredths because 8/20 = .40 = 40/100

I hope that helps!! :-)

Part 1: What part of a yard is 24 inches?
How many inches are in a yard (hint: it is more than 24 inches)? Now you know that you have 24 inches of the ? inches you have in an entire yard. So you have 24/?. Simplify and you are done.

Part 2: One thousand three hundred twenty feet are what part of a mile?
Again, this is the same concept. Put both lengths into the same unit (feet, miles, yrds, lightyears, it doesn't matter!) and find what fraction of a mile is one thousand three hundred and twenty feet are.

Part 3 three-fourths of a gallon is how many eights of a gallon?
3/4 of a gallon = ?/8 of a gallon. You tell me

Part 4 eight - twentieths of a ton is how many one hundreths of a ton?

8/20* 1 ton = ?/100 * 1 ton

Again, you tell me.

So I'm guessing you're in maybe grade 3, since this is all simple fractions. So we'll take it slow.

3/8 is the same as what /32?
So to get the 8 to be 32 you multiply the 8 by 4 (4X8=32).
The rules of math say that if you multiply one number in a fraction you have to multiply the other number as well, so 4X3=12.
3/8 = 12/32.

If a yard is 36 inches (you do know that, right?), then how much of that 36 inches does 24 inches take up?
So in an equation its 24/36. You can do the same thing to this fraction as you did the first one, but this time you divide to get the lowest number you can on the bottom.
Both 24 and 36 are divisible by 12, so 24/36 would be the same as 2/3 (divide both numbers by 12).

The "feet and mile" question is the same - find out how many feet in a mile, then put the number in your question (1320) over that.

The gallon one is tricky but if you think it through you can get it. There have to be 8 eighths in one of anything, right?
So to get the answer you make the 3/4 equal to x/8 (you already know that's by multiplying both numbers by something).
And the "ton" one is the same process.

Take a simple example. If 16 ounces are in a pound, then 8 ounces would be half a pound. So, in the form of the questions asked above, what part of a pound is 8 ounces? and the answer is 8/16 = 1/2.

So, for the yard one, if a yard is 36 inches, then:
24 inches/36 inches = 24/36 = 4/6 = 2/3, so 24 inches is 2/3 of a yard.

The other ones are done the same way, just use the units of each quantity and make sure the numerator and denominator have the same units.

Good luck.

express:3/8 in thirty-seconds?
3/8 = .x/32... whatever you multiply 8 by to get 32., multiply 3 by to get x.

wat part of a yard is 24 inches?[answer in lowest terms]
24/(however many inches are in a yard) You really should know this... If you don't, look it up in a dictionary... or on the internet.

one thousand three hundred twenty feet are what part of a mile?
1320/(however many feet are in a mile)

three-fourths of a gallon is how many eighths of a gallon?
3/4=x/8... come on, you can do this....
this is the same as the first one. Whatever you multiply 4 by to get 8, multiply 3 by to get x.

eight-twentieths of a ton is how many one hundreths of a ton?
8/10=x/100... This is the same as the one above.

These are pretty trivial. It's just reducing and "unreducing" fractions. Or you can wait and somebody will do them for you.
