I had asked a question earlier about noisy neighbors squealing their trucks on purpose (see here: http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;_ylt=AiM8EQW781CPCTqLGy6Jd3Dsy6IX?qid=20070720175553AAfgS7 ). The good thing is, 2 cops cars came and I guess told them to stop, but they literally left less than 5 minutes ago and they continue to do it! I don't mean to sound like a taddler, but it's extremely annoying to listen to. What should I do?

My neighbors and I went through something similar...here is what happened and maybe you can try it although I don't know if the results will be the same:
A few years back one of our neighbors got a motorcycle & so our neighbor would invite all these other bikers and all you heard throughout the day was the awful sound of their engines running. They would even go as far as showing off each other's bike's speed, stunts, etc...around their driveway..even during odd hours of the night. Well, it turns out next to us was a couple that had recently moved to our neighborhood and was NOT going to let this go on. Unlike me or the other neighbors, who learned how to tune out those godawful sounds of engines running, she took action. She and her husband went up to the house and told them the situation. The people were horrible and even threatened to beat up her husband. She called the police but the same situation happened as yours...she called the cops while it happened, the cops warned the noisy individuals, after the cops left, the engines started again...the bikers often drove around her house and would crank up the engines just to piss her off..she called the cops a few times, almost every day, till she was advised that since this is an ongoing problem she would have to get a petition (for city hall) signed by a bunch of neighbors to prove that this is a PUBLIC nuisance and that it wasn't just bothering her family but others too...and we (most of the neighbors that surround the annoying house) signed it and we never saw or heard those bike engines again.
This is what happened in our neighborhood...incase you're not sure what action you should take, ask the police department what you can do...ask city hall what you can do--you have a right to live in peace...your home should be your sanctuary and absurd people should not deprive you from your comfort zone.

Get a cam corder and record it..if you have the sound turned up...you got them!..Trust me, there are laws about this type of thing and they can be prosecuted..but, you almost have to do the polices job for them...if it is at night..be sure you have night vision mode on...trust me, if you do this..you have a case..and the police have no choice but to do their jobs..if they don't, take it to the Chief of Police..or better yet a lawyer..

You can call the non-emergency line for your local police dept. They may or may not actually do anything. You could go visit your neighbors and ask them nicely to stop.....Good luck! I know how annoying it is to have a bunch of thoughtless cretins living nearby.

Keep a record of when they keep doing it. (Record it if you can). Write down license plate #'s. Then you can have a real complaint after you have some evidence. Otherwise, i think you may have to deal with it. Noisy neighbors suck I know.

Drive down to the nearest hood, pick up a RPG launcher and take out that truck...problem solved.

1. what would you think about going down and just talking to them (human to human)?
or-
2. call the police again...eventually the cops are goona get tired and they are gonna arrest some one. make it clear that you are willing to sign a complaint and press charges.

Let them know you are concerned for people's safety on the street and a neighborhood is not the place to be squesling their tires.
