No, it often depends on the university.

The school that I go to almost exclusively uses twin XL beds (I've heard of some of the older beds in older halls using straight twins, but it's a one-in-a-thousand sort of deal).

If the school you're going to attend has a Web page for their residential life/dorms department, they'll usually have an FAQs page mentioning what size beds they use. Otherwise, you should be able to call the reslife department and ask -- it's a common enough question to warrant the employees' knowledge.

On the safe side, I would buy twin XL -- Bed, Bath, and Beyond usually has the 20% off coupon circulating and twin XL sheets for about $20 or so. When you get to school, if they don't fit, you can return the sheets for the proper size.

After having kids go to 4 different colleges I can attest to the fact that all of them needed twin x-l sheets. Go to pottery-barn teens, they have a section for dorm life including the sheet section.

Yup--all of them. Private, public--it doesn't matter. ALL of them are twin XL. Very annoying, but in the end it doesn't matter all THAT much.

Tell your mom that if you waste money on twin sheets, you'll have to get new sheets.

It isn't true at all schools, but almost all these days are twin xl. You might be able to contact someone in admissions at your school to get a definite answer.

Yes. Check your college to make sure you need to bring them. When I went to NAU, the college provided them, and a laundry service once a week.

Best wishes and congratulations.
