Obama would be a sentimental choice for me. We live in the same town, he's a nice guy and it's about time we had a Black President. Not to mention that enough Southern Republicans would stroke out to shift the balance of power in Congress.
But, he really doesn't pull any new constituencies onto the ticket. He and Hillary have pretty much the same base and she's stronger with those voters. Strategically, Edwards or Bill Richardson would be a better choice. Edwards has the whole White Trash Boy Made Good thing going for him and Republicans are playing into it by talking about his wealth. Richardson isn't well known outside of New Mexico, but polls well with some normally Republican Constituencies, especially Hispanics. The boldest move she could make would be to reach across party lines and ask Arlen Specter to run as her VP. Senator Specter, (R-Pa,) is the darling of the Republican center, has the highest ratings for Integrity of anyone in either House and would give disaffected Republicans an alternative to holding their noses and voting for the Republican nominee.
I'd like to see Obama win the nomination. But to do that he has to stop worrying about not being the "Black Candidate" and be more confrontational. If he can come on like an old time Civil Rights leader and take the line that what the Movement did to empower Black Americans can be done for ALL Americans, he'll cruise. I think that Blacks are finally mature enough politically to accept that without branding him a "Race Traitor." If he can pick a fight with Al Sharpton, he'd pick up support with both Whites and Blacks.
If he can show me some of that, I'll switch my support to him.

I don't think she will. She'd have more to gain from nominating someone like Bill Richardson, who can deliver a swing state and can appeal to Hispanics and moderates (more Hispanics vote Republican than African-Americans). It's also possible that Obama would turn the offer down -- he may decide that he could do more in the Senate.

Ms Kitty,
I personally think that Hillary will win the nomination but not the election - too many negatives and much too liberal for the centrist middle voters of this country. I also believe that she would suck up all of the available 'air' in DC - she and her husband. Mr Obama would get, I believe, the shorter end of the stick.

Yes, She'll pick Barack. It's the perfect ticket and they'll win. They'll carry NY, IL, CA, and several other big states for an easy win in the electoral college.

Come on! a minimum of Sarah is a governor! i think of it particularly is extra qualifying than Obama.

It's certainly possible. In this country, anything can and has happened. It would be interesting to see two minorities run on the same ballot. given the feelings toward Bush and the Republican party, America may welcome the change.
