The Viet Cong were Vietnamese NON regular army.

They worked along side the Regular Vietnam Army and were the one famous for being called Charlie by our forces. It was a nick name for VC or Viet Cong, hence Charlie.

They wore the same clothes as an average citizen and were of any age so you never knew who was VC and who was not.

I personally beleive that if not for the VC the Regular army would never had stood a chance at surviving a war of attrition underground with no battle fronts. The regular army relied heavily on the VC.

The VC was also a huge part of the Tet offensive in 1968 that landed General Westmoreland out of a job and showed the USA that we were not going to win due to a report by Walter Chronchite.

Does that help?

War is never a way to answer a question. But men have been at war for years. The questions you are asking were asked the day that war started. The thing is men and women were following orders from our government. The 60,s were about a lot of wars. Women wanted there right to be what ever they wanted to be. The door was opened for drugs to be sold here in the US. So you tell me was the war a cover up so other things could take place. Most of the time war is about money and power. I grew up watching but never took part in the repair of what happen back then but now I am going to try and correct that part of my life. I do not know how old you are but that war is over for most part. But what are you going to do about the war we are in right now. This war is over a lot more important thing then Nam was and even has clearer reason why we should not let it be covered up.

The people, mostly poor that wanted their county to be liberated from outside influence, (colonist).
This process had been going on for many years, they had just gotten rid of the French, and here come the Americans, under the authority of the U.N.
The rest is history.
