My opinion:
Marijuana is no worse than alcohol. A person who is high on marijuana many times seems to me more in touch with reality than someone who is intoxicated.
Marijauna has some health benefits, and is proven to help with nausea.
Marijuana tends to make people calm and happy while some other drugs tend to have the opposite affect.
Smoking mariuana doesn't hurt anyone. I think we should treat marijuana as we do alcohol (must be over 21, don't smoke while pregnant, no smoking and driving, ect.)
I feel that marijuana has a bad rep because people associate it with the ***** community which is completely racist. I feel we should be beyond "Reefer Madness" and that the people should begin to accept the truth about marijuana.
Even if you don't smoke marijuana, would you be upset if it were made legal. Do you think you would vote yes to make marijuana legal (with the same restrictions as alcohol.) Thank you for your opinion.

I also feel that this should be a something that we, as Americans should decide. It makes me feel like I will forever be a teenager asking for daddy's permission to have a good time.

Kalia and Claudiacake, I love your opinions.
Prisoners waste our tax money. We need set the men in custody for possessing and supplying marijuana free.
I think the majority of people who are against marijuana being legalized are conservative idiots with their heads up their rears.
The sale of marijuana would provide thousands more jobs, and totally boost our economy. And, you know they will tax the hell out of it, just like cigarettes and alcohol. The ones who are against the legalization of marijuana pretty much have nothing to say. You are basically saying no, drugs are bad, durr.

Sir Bobby, I actually do totally get what you are saying. But, is it really fair to discriminate against one drug and not the other when the other clearly causes more accidents. They say that marijuana is the "Gateway drug", I say, "BULL SH IT!" Alcohol is the Gateway drug.

i do believe it should be legalized, because then it could be tested, monitored, and standardized the way the ABC monitors alcohol production in the united states. it would create new jobs, and stimulate the economy.
it would also lift the social taboo of talking about marijuana use, therefore encouraging more parents to educate their children of the dangers of marijuana in the same way they talk to them about drunk driving and smoking cigarettes. i think far too many teenagers know that drunk driving is wrong, but think that driving while stoned is safe and acceptable because no one invests the same amount of money and time into marijuana education that they do for alcohol.
legalizing marijuana does not have to equal encouraging marijuana use. it can lead to more stringent restrictions and more public awareness, as well as a reduction in it's dangerous appeal to teens as a way to rebel against society.

I would vote for medical and recreational. I don't currently marijuana, but i have in the past and i can tell you it doesn't make you aggressive as much as alcohol does. I have never heard of someone that hurt some one else because they were under the influence of weed. Yet of people that hurt other under the influence of alcohol. I think if alcohol is legal why shouldn't weed be too. It will really be a lost for the black market if it get legalized.

Marijuana has already been legalized...and found to be against the law. What you mean is, should marijuana be decriminalized? And I think, yes, it should be. Put it in a pack like cigarettes, rake in federal taxes, control sales to minors (as much as cigarette and alcohol sales are controlled), remove the criminal element, free up our law enforcement, courts, and jails. Surely something was learned during Prohibition?

I would vote yes. I don't think it does any damage to me. The government has a responsibility for people's health, but seen as they spend a few billion each year on bringing in drunks into hospital the point, I don't see the difference either.

Absolutely.
You should check out former Sen. Mike Gravel's presidential campaign if you want to cast a vote for legalization of marijuana.

The short-term effects of marijuana can include problems with memory and learning; distorted perception; difficulty in thinking and problem solving; loss of coordination; and increased heart rate. Research findings for long-term marijuana abuse indicate some changes in the brain similar to those seen after long-term abuse of other major drugs.
One study has indicated that an abuser's risk of heart attack more than quadruples in the first hour after smoking marijuana. The researchers suggest that such an effect might occur from marijuana's effects on blood pressure and heart rate and reduced oxygen-carrying capacity of blood.
During preschool years, marijuana-exposed children have been observed to perform tasks involving sustained attention and memory more poorly than nonexposed children do.
Addicts are willing to spend their entire life savings on purchasing the drug. If marijuana remains illegal, fewer people will go into debt to buy the drugs, thus decreasing the amount the government will pay for the social assistance of these addicts.
It's a matter of moral ethics. I would vote for alcohol & smoking to be illegal also.
Rascim does not bring a bad reputation for marijuana. I haven't seen one black hippie [I do not intend to sterotype either]

And you seem to think that we have a good handle on THAT?

They'll never make it legal because it's too easy to grow, which means it would be too difficult to tax. But I would definitely vote yes. Am I gonna be arrested now?
