Personally, I don't feel real bad for these Pit Bulls, I mean, come on, they are baby eaters...but at the same time, I feel maybe they are baby eaters because they have been bred for so long to fight. Hell I don't know.
I have brought up the same point several times and am sick to death of people wanting to kill and torture a human being, Mike Vick, for his part in this thing. It really sickens me.
Animal Cruelty very bad - Human Cruelty OK.
What sense does this make?
I am just glad that we don't kill the losing fighter in UFC matches...

Just because the dogs maul each other to death, it doesn't make it acceptable. I'll tell you what, you stand in an enclosure--one that you can't get out of and face an opponent. Your weapons would be baseball bats with nail spikes sticking out. Imagine your opponent clobbering you all over your body with that and maybe taking a knife and tearing your flesh off you bones. Imagine the pain of that. That is the kind of pain the dogs experience when they are forced to fight. It is murder. If only if you knew what really goes on behind the scenes of these fights, you would not be so ignorant. It's obvious that you have never had the experience of being bitten by an animal. Trust me, puncture wounds hurt very much. I've been nipped and bitten on the leg and it hurt. Some of these dog fights last for hours and they are to the death. Animals deserve respect. Shame on you for the way you think.

Just because something isn't "like murder or anything" does not mean it is the right thing to do. Dog fighting is not like hunting or fishing at all. Dogs, which would otherwise be good pets, are trained for fighting to the death, and nothing more. The loser is often killed in the process, or inhumanely destroyed after if it is no longer fit to compete. These dogs are extremely dangers and have been implicated in the deaths & maulings of many humans. The illegal gambling that inevitably accompanies the fights often leads to fights among the gamblers, often with devastating results for them or their families. There is nothing good about dog fighting at all.

It is not like hunting and/or fishing. The dogs used for fighting are trained to be vicious and aggressive...so much so, that even if they are rescued from dog fight pits, they have to be humanely destroyed (an oxymoron) because they can't be gentled. Fighting dogs live short lives of pain and injury, being ripped to shreds in fight pits. When an animal becomes to old or too badly injured to fight, they are brutally killed by strangulation, hanging, being beat in the head with bats, or lifted up by their hind legs and having their heads smashed against concrete. There is no way someone can call this a sport.

I'm 47 years old, don't hunt, don't fish, have run over a fair number of creatures with all the vehicles I have driven, am really open-minded and sensible, but for the life of me I cannot figure out why people are so upset about dog fighting. Especially since there is Boxing, Kick-Boxing, Bullfighting, Restaurants, Hunting, Fishing, War, IFC, every day violence, and gambling.
I really don't get it. If it is illegal, that's fine with me. But what does that have to do with humanity? The dogs in question are naturally aggressive and are responsible for thousands of unprovoked attacks each year.
The problem stems from those tree-hugging PETA-philes who think Snoopy is real and deserves a seat at the top of the food chain eating salads. Where are their bleeding hearts when human babies are being left in trash cans, dumpsters, and church doorsteps?
It's all ridiculous. What's next? Insect rights? Bacteria rights? Air molecule rights? Blood-borne pathogen rights? Paramecium rights? Ghost rights? Malevolent alien rights?
Give me a damned break.....

I see your point. The only reason why it is considered far more unacceptable is because people like dogs far more. When most people hunt, do you really think they are doing it because they need the food? Come on. It's for sport. As is dog fighting. I'm not condoning dog fighting or anything, I'm just saying they both should be illegal. It's all murder. Weather it's doing all the crap Vick is accused of doing to dogs, shooting a defenseless deer and letting it bleed to death or snagging a fish with a hook in the mouth then suffocating it. They are all sick pass times of ours and should be illegal.

It is nothing like hunting or fishing.
In hunting & fishing you are either taking food, or will be putting the animals back.
Dog fighting is simply that, fighting, and the whole idea is to cause as much damage to the other dog as possible, and make it last long enough to be a spectacle for those watching

because hunting and fishing are quick and painless. or should be. Dogfights are cruel, and the dog has no choice but to participate. The dogs are often mistreated and ill cared for. Many have cuts and wounds that are never treated, and many die in the ring and are simply tossed to the side. I'm a hunter, and I don't like watching animals suffer. And if you ever see a dogfight, you will find it to be cruel and tasteless. If the dogs could say, "I want to fight" it would be a different story. Basically, its like slavery. except instead of work, its fighting. and animal or not, its wrong.

It is nothing like hunting and fishing. READ the INDICTMENT. These dogs were starved, beaten, abused and tortured before they were forced to fight in a bloodthirsty battle for human entertainment.
I do NOT approve of hunting and fishing either, but I don't think the deer and fish are kept in cages and starved abused and tortured BEFORE they are shot. I don't believe deer and fish are electrocuted, hung, slammed to the ground repeatedly if they don't participate well in the HUNT.
After a fight, if the dog has performed well and has not died, he lives to repeat this fight over and over and over--for the entertainment of some truly sick individuals?
You must have pictured in your mind (if you haven't already participated in one, which I am beginning to believe you may have) what goes on at a dog fight? How could you calmly watch that and consider that entertainment?????????>?????>
Do you really need people to explain this to you??? That is really sad--
For the poster who said that pitbulls are baby eaters, you are really showing your ignorance-- Pitbulls are baby eaters AFTER dirtbags like Michael Vick has TRAINED them to be killers. Idiots like Michael Vick are the ones responsible for children getting mauled and killed by killer dogs, THEY HAVE BEEN TRAINED BY IDIOTS TO BE KILLER DOGS. Everytime a child is mauled by a vicious dog, a sadistic thug is behind it--If you had a brain you would know this--
Why does it upset SOME of us to know the specifics of what Michael Vick had done to these helpless animals? Because many of us have been fortunate to own a dog at one tiime or the other. Most of us know how a dog lives to please their owner, they will love you at the end of the day no matter who you are -- they live to please you. They count on us so much and to repay them for their loyalty and love in the Michael Vick fashion is simply heartbreaking. Many of us have something called 'compassion', and the thought of these animal's suffering and picturing what Michael Vick has done to these animals truly traumatize us. Look it up in the dictionary, "compassion", and learn something today.
Dang, there are truly some dumb heartless cruel sick people here tonite--

To make an animal purposefully mean and vicious is wrong. The methods used to get an animal to behave like that are cruel. The pitbulls might have been breed to have that temperment, but they still need some nasty training before they are ready.
Other than that, I do not see much of a difference between it and hunting.
