Yes. Actually, fear indicates some separation from your "soul", and the fact of still being "run" by your ego, according to some "philosophers" on point. And, only when you "live" completely from your soul will you be honest at all times, both with yourself and others.

Fear is one of many emotions everyone has. Some people handle fear better than others, for example, some people are terrified of snakes or spiders, others heights, airplanes, the list can go on and on. We don't have control over our fears when we are born, they are developed at a very young age; it is in our genetic code. As adults we learn to control certain fears learning to deal with them and handle them. Some people can never get over certain fears, but this has nothing to do with being dishonest. Being dishonest is a conscious act, we know what we are doing or saying. We are not born dishonest. We acquire it through life's experiences and chose to either be dishonest or honest. My son grew up being terrified of flying, and to this day as an adult, will not fly. I grew up with a father that flew all the time and enjoyed it as a child. I never instilled the fear because I was never afraid, thus, he was born with this predisposition fear of flying.

I would say yes. Most people don't have the courage to be honest. It's easier to be dishonest. I think people fear the repercussions of what might happen if they are honest, rather than be up front and truthful. I think people can get closer to each other if they are honest, but they fear the closeness. It would make then vulnerable.

This kind of question is best suited to french movies where a phony professor puts the make on a nubile young wench.
If you look at reality for yourself, you will notice that there is variation everywhere. There is variation is size in strength in color in shading in the attraction you feel to any subject. The entire universe is spectral in nature, not a battle of opposites.
If you drop the dichotomy-speak, you will start to relax about most of these binary questions and can make up your mind to learn as much as you can without imposing your own this-or-that pattern. It is this and that and an entire spectrum of others.

There is nothing to fear but fear itself, and as JC said fear not my son. There is difference between fear[nostalgia] srartled [loud or sudden noises] and a learned respect for [fire, or sharp objects]. But as stated people fear what they do not understand as well we may fear some undesirable out come of a particular situation, like talking to a girl or going to court. Some people create so much fear in there lives that they produce anxiety and anxiety attacts. In all actuallity you will attract that what you are afraid of to you but that is another topic

Imo it doesn't take courage to be honest with oneself, it takes wisdom. A wise person is not consumed by fear because he/she does not dwell on those thoughts, emotions, or sensations. He/she sees the situation for what it is and quickly re-focuses on whatever is appropriate.
I realize that this answer does not quite fit your question but that is because imo the question is faulty. Cheers!

I think people fear what they don't understand, so I rather than seeing fear as an act of dishonesty, I see it more as a lack of understanding.
