VIRUS REMOVAL STEPS:
this will be long, tedious and frustrrating but it needs doing step by step
XP:
most nasties are set to reside in your restore system. clean them out and forget to close S.R. BEFORE you start clean up and they return when you reboot.
do this while OFFLINE!
start--all programs--accessories--system tools--system restore--settings--drive [ c ]--setting
check off and while there,click--hold--drag slider to 5% and recover 10% hard drive memory
control panel--internet options--general
delete:
cookies--history [ and set days to keep to 0 ]--delete temp internet files
privacy tab:
advanced--override--allow session,allow 1st party--BLOCK 3rd party [ spyware/tracking ] cookies
Recycle Bin
click on recycle bin and empty it
Disk Clean:
all programs--accessories--system tools--disk clean [ and later disk defrag ]
choose os [ c ] to clean,wait,click ok [ twice ]
now go back and do disk defrag [ seleck anylize--run or ok ]
Prefetch Folder
my computer--local disk drive [ c ]--windows--prefetch
select view--select all--press delete key on keyboard
now--IF you have any protective programs [ anti-virus--anti-spyware ] installed,NOW is the time to run those.
once you are clean, return to sytem restore and turn it back on [ reverse above instructions ].
choose to create a new restore point, name it and you're done!
Vista:
vista is a bit different, yet almost the same.
getting to internet options is the same,so look at the instructions for what to do with XP above
disable system restore:
right click computer on start page list--select properties--select system protection--uncheck os [ c ]
REMEMBER TO RESET SYSTEM RESTORE AFTER YOU ARE DONE WITH VIRUS CLEAN UP AND CREATE NEW RESTORE POINT !
disk clean & defrag
control panel--perfromance,information & tools--click disk clean up
select drive [ c ]--ok--okclick delete files
disk defrag is on the same page along with disk clean except it's called advanced tools
see XP instructions on what to do--when
again,just like XP,run your anti-virus--anti-spyware cleaners
you can get what you need for protection programs from here
http://browseraddons.friendpages.com
SYSTEM RESTORE XP & VISTA
BEST would be a TOTAL reinstallation but you COULD use system restore to take it back several weeks/months.
Vista
start--control panel--system & maintenance--back up & restore center--use system restore to fix problems--
choose restore point and wait for your computer to be restored to that date
XP:
START--ALL PROGRAMS--ACCESSORIES--SYSTEM TOOLS--SYSTEM RESTORE--RESTORE TO EARLIER TIME--NEXT--CLICK RESTORE POINT TO BE RESTORED TO--NEXT
WAIT TILL COMPUTER IS RESTORED TO YOUR CHOSEN DATE
my apologies, lol, just looked up and noticed caps on,well,NOT going to rewrite this
windows xp
RESTART the computer then press and hold the F8 button untill you you see the option to go to SAFE MODE and then when you go inside safe mode RIGHT CLICK THE SCREEN and apply new RESOLUTION then if it asks you to restart then restart the computer and and now you should be able to login with a lot lower resolution and you can costumize it again!!! And if that doesn't work then just press and hold the F8 button again after you restart and chose the option to restore the computer to "Last Known Good Configuration"

Do NOT download and install any more anti-virus programs unless you completely un-install your current anti-virus program.
The use of 2 anti-virus programs at the same time can cause major conflicts. The 2 scanning engines will fight each other to scan every file that you read, write or execute which can cause a slowdown. For the same reason, using 2 A-Vs can cause you to have less protection from the various malware, not more.
(Using an anti-spyware with an anti-virus is good, however and is recommended)
A much better solution is the use of on-line scanners.
Run both of these on-line scans. Both are free and excellent at detecting and removing malware free of charge. There is no need to un-install your current protections before using these.
1. Scan for virus, worms, dialers, etc. and remove (free online scan, no downloaded program) with BitDefender's Online Scanner
http://www.bitdefender.com/
2. Scan for trojans, adware, cookies, and spyware and remove (free online scan, no downloaded program) with Ewido Online Scanner ( now known as AVG Anti-Spyware). This is NOT the same as AVG Anti-Virus.
http://www.ewido.net/en/
These scans will take quite a bit of time. The time is necessary to clean-up an infected computer.
Good luck.

AVG Anti-Virus is free and works very well.
Although I might have to recommend you getting a better suited AntiVirus program such as Norton (symantec) or something that suits your needs. Sometimes those free ones don't do what the ones you purchase can.
If you suspect of having a lot of viruses on your computer, I would recommend you saving safe IMPORTANT data into a cd or flash drive and recover your computer with the recovery CD's it came with when you purchased your computer. (sometimes it is on the hard drive and instructions should be on the manual).
Good luck and if you need other assistance let me know.

Actually, depending on the virus, you can use "windows restore" (in XP, similar one in Vista) to "jump back in time", and it kills the virus (without an antivirus software).
Remember though, it depends on the virus. You could also use it as an opportunity to reformat your system. It'll clean out a lot of extraneous stuff, kill any viruses, and make your computer run faster.

Try kaspersky online its a nice AV and if it doesnt erase them you can do it manually.
To make a rollback on your computer go to
Start/AllPrograms/Accesories/System Tools/system restore
There you can make your computer settings to rerstore to an earlier point... But, i would be useless if you back up to a time when you were already infected lol
Try also ZoneAlarm its a nice AV Antispyware and Firewall
