First seal the black base coat so it won't bleed through the red. Let dry. Get some blue painter's masking tape. Cut into thin strips and place on top
of your model car leaving thin spaces between the strips. Paint the entire top with red paint, possibly
using two coats. Just before the paint is completely dry remove the tape and continue to let
dry.

Having build thousands of models now... I find the BEST way to get "pretty" lines is to use decals or dry-rub transfers !!

NEXT best is to apply the first color, and let it DRY for 24-48 hours !! Then give a VERY light sanding with 1000-1200 grit paper, wash and dust the model !! THEN apply a HIGH quality tape (Testors Model tape, Frisket Paper, or 3M Blue tape) and BURNISH (rub) the edges smooth !!

Next apply the second coat... lightly so that paint doesn't run or seep under the tape (I use airbrushes or spray paint)

Typically, you put down the LIGHTER color first... so sometimes you put down the base and paint the line, and others you paint the line, mask it, and paint the base.

I've done this for Air Force One, ship waterlines, Marine One, and various train locomotives !!

About 5 years ago I removed the pinstriping off my civic, on the first try I removed some paint along with the first section I started removing. Then someone told me to try a blow dryer, you wave it by the section you're working on as you peel back the strips, let it warm up a bit. You'll get the feel for the right amount of time you gotta leave the blow dryer on each section and it should come off very easily then. Hope it works for ya as well as it did for me.

Buy the pin stripes as decals or tape and put them on.
Thin the paint and use a very fine brush and a very steady hand.
