When I come on ask and answer to talk about a book or flower or garden tool,I don't get others coming in saying "you are so stupid to use a hoe" or "you are an idiot for reading that book"so why must the people who insist on persecuting Christians etc always dumping in our zone, it doesnt' make sense, ask and answer means I come here to discuss and find answers, not get dumped on for just asking, if the question seems to want an opinion, I give it otherwise I try to give helpful, factual answers why can't they do that ?

Ignorance and a lack of ability to consider something from another point of view, which is fairly common on all sides of practically every issue. Although I am now a Christian and can sympathize with you, when I was agnostic, I felt just as persecuted by Christians. Words like heathen, heretic, and nonbeliever can be pretty threatening--especially when you consider the treatment of those labeled as such in the past. When people feel threatened, they often lash out at those they feel are responsible. The current political power of the religious right has made those with other beliefs feel even more threatened.

Religion has always been a heated topic, thus the old saying as long as we don't discus religion or politics we will be fine. People get very protective over their belief systems and can down right get cruel and vengeful when it comes down to it. As a pagan I've experienced this first hand. Unfortunately you have to learn to deal with it. The best way I have learned to do that is just take into account the person that is saying what they are saying and caulk it up to their stupidity and ignorance then continue on with your life. Because you are the important one not them. It's your life, live it and love it.

I can't really explain to you why some people feel the need to push their views on everyone around. I actually have not yet decided whether or not I even believe in god, but I do not knock those that do. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion but personally I believe you should keep it to yourself if it hurts someone else or encroaches on their right to believe what they believe in. I'm sorry I can't apologize for those who do deem it necessary to be rude and arrogant when answering questions about religion. I think a part of them may just be trying to back up what they are saying in their own heads.

the reason is because there are a lot of so called christians on here who dump on others and it is a natural reaction to being attacked...some people take it very personal as the decision to believe or not to believe has usually come with a price...and when attacked they will dump back...sorry it happened to you...and not all atheists do that...so please don't lump us all together...just as i don't lump all christians together :)
