It is an '02 model. It doesn't seem to hurt performance, it's just a pain always having oil blow out the carb. and on the paint.

Always give year, make, engine size and model # when asking questions. We need all of that info to give an informed answer.
2 & 4 stroke engines can have similar problems, with totally different repair procedures.
If it's a 2 stroke, read Dedicated's answer.

1. One way to try to fix this problem is to adjust your carburetor. At times, raw gas will expel out of the Muffler giving you a blow back problem.

2. If it is a two stroke, you could still try to adjust the Carb, but if that doesn't work, then you may not be getting the correct ratio/mixture of gas and oil flowing in. This will cause the engine to work harder, and you would have this problem. Also, it tends to overheat, and since most of these Scooters does not come with a heat gauge, that could create a nasty problem for you.

If adjusting the Carb does work (which it should if everything is operating fully), you may have to either give the Carb a good cleaning or replace the Carb.

It's pure and simple, if the gas is not burning the way that it should, the gas that does not burn will blow back via the exhaust.

Good Luck
