Also when I tried to set up the second computer, I couldn't find the Properties when i right-clicked on Network Connections (so I can't change the TCP/IP settings).

You have confused me. You are saying you have two DSL modems and want to connect one to each computer and connect to the Internet in that fashion?
You can do this, but you will have to pay for two accounts with your ISP, because that is what you will have.
Why not do what everyone else does and buy a router, connect it to the DSL modem from your ISP, connect the network cards from each computer to the router and thus allow each computer to use the single connection.
If you are worried about one computer seeing what is on the other, only what is marked for sharing can be seen.

what do you mean 2 modems? do you mean that you have a broadband connection and and you wanna put 2 pcs on it?
with your broadband comes a modem wich you can hook up i think about 5 wired pc's using eithernet cables and some have wireless connections too. but as far as having 2 modems for the same connection i dont think you can for 1 broadban connection. are you trying to put on a pc that doesnt have a wireless and far from your pc? you can buy lykseys hub you simply conect the longest eithernet cable to the modem then to the hub then another eitherenet to the pc
but its buch simpler to get a wireless modem in the pc
