The ipod supports videos only in MP4 format. You need to use software to convert the videos/movies to MP4 format.
Here's a step-by-step tutorial on how to put DVD movies on your ipod using free software.

You will need a software called Handbrake. Download it from

In case the DVD is copy protected, you will first need to rip the DVD to your hard disk using a software like DVD Decryptor. More info about this-

I sat my ipod down in front of the Television Screen with the sound Volume turned all the way up, hit play on the DVD Player and pushed Record on the ipod at the same time.
When the video was over, I hit stop on the DVD Player and the ipod at the same time.
Then I got out my Series 5 Headset and plugged it into the ipod and was ready to go. I assume your Headset is one of the new Series 5 types with the little video screen built into the Sun Glasses. Good... Then all you have to do is hit the play button and away you go.

Well if you already own the DVD and want to put it onto your video ipod then you need to decrypt the dvd and then convert it.
