I'm going on a month long roadtrip and I want something smaller than a labtop and less pricey than an Iphone.

All I want is to be able to surf the net cause I'm totally a net geek!!

Will a blackberry work on the road while traveling without Wi-Fi?
Is there something out there that's portable that doesn't need
Wi-Fi and can allow me to surf the net while on the road?

Hope someone can help! Thanks soooo much!

A simple solution would be to use a Treo or Blackberry device. These access the Internet over their cell networks. For around $45 a month you can have unlimited Internet access for surfing the web and checking your email.

Any smart phone, Blackberry, Palm, Motorola will work. You need a provider that will sell you a data plan. You didn't mention who your carrier was but Sprint has an all you can eat data plan for $15 with high speed EV-DO service, the same technology Verizon is using. Verizon thinks highly of their data plan as they are higher than Sprint.
ATT's is $20.00 and is as slow as dial-up.
It would be a lot cheaper on you to just take your notebook as most hotels and condo's now provide free Wi-Fi.
Just be a geek in your room. If you insist on access while on the beach or road then get a smartphone.

*I'd check each major town you're going to, and get their tourist and convention bureau's recordings. Many times you are able to "browse" by keypad and/or voice through the entire town.
Hope this helps
