It could be misconstrued as such, yes.
That would be the value of TACTFULNESS.

you know, a lot of people are confused about that. Being candid (open with comments) is appropriate only when that's asked. Most people understand that when a person feels they are truthful then the truth they believe in is only theirs and not everyone elses honesty. Honesty is not the same thing as truth (truth is fact, honesty is someone's belief system)..

It is rude when it's not asked for. Most times someone's belief system is forced upon someone else who really doesn't want to know what they think or doesn't care what they think, and when they express their so-called truth it hurts the other person feelings or the person themself and can even become libel.

Rude is something else, it's just saying mean things, and at uncalled for times, unasked for times.

Yes, because the truth can hurt sometimes. But it depends on what is being said, some times it is better to not to not talk than saying anything at all.

I think it depends on your tact. You know whether or not you have any. I can be very truthful without being rude and if it comes across as rude then that would be their issue not mine! I am a brutally honest person and some people cannot handle that.

It all depends on the tone and words that are used. The truth sometimes hurts and is mistaken for a rude insult.

Sometimes it is. You have to follow the protocol for the situation. For example, you can tell the truth before something happens, but afterward, you have to be nice. Like if a friend asks you a blue flat-top will look good on her, you can say NO before she does it, but after she does it, it looks GREAT.

I don't think so , as long as you are not offensive about it. There is a way to tell politely. Instead of saying..."you look fat in that" you could say "that dress is not the most flattering style" It's all about the delivery

depends, if you are stating the obvious, like holy crap you are as big as a house, if this is true and something everyone can easily see, it is rude. But if you say gosh honey your breath is rank today, i think it would be taken differently.
