We all do it. It's a great way to destroy your self-esteem. There will always be someone richer, smarter, better-looking, and more successful than you. The key is to be like an athlete and work on your own personal best in whatever field of endeavour that interests you.

I don't know if it's normal, but I have done that all my life. I was fat and ugly growing up. (I thought so anyway). Was not allowed make up and fashionable clothes like other girls. When I was 20, I learned how to make myself pretty, alot of which is the happy go lucky attitude I made for myself, with a good sense of humor. I use to be shy too. I learned the people responsible for making my low self esteem were not worth giving them that. Now, I'm middle aged, get comments all the time on how I've aged well, and all those fashionable whippersnappers are fat and frumpy. And I've also learned that those that seem perfect, have some MAJOR imperfections that come out sooner or later. You are beautiful !!! You need to make yourself happy with what you have and not what other people have. Be Strong !! When someone shakes your hand, give a good strong single shake, not a wimpy little shake.

That is perfectly normal. Everyone does it, especially women. Just have a good group of friends that will remind you to not worry about it, and that you are just fine being you. Stop worrying about how you compare to other people, be happy with yourself. It wouldn't be any fun if you were just like someone else anyway! Accept the fact that you are who you are, and that is the best thing of all.

It is normal to compare one's self with others. However, it is very important that you begin to develop your own sense of self esteem as no one is the final answer to your own sense of style, beauty, intelligence and any other set of values or mores by which you are living. If you need to get counseling then go and get it, or possibly attend a self-esteem group.

Some people compare to others about their body shape, prettiness, and other things....but its all about the inside that matters. If you compare emotionally then I would imagine you are depressed in some way. If your on a depression pill then talk to your doctor.

of course it's normal to compare yourself... everyone in the world does. that's why people try to be better than everyone else. just be happy with yourself and think of all the good things about YOU, not the things that are better about somone else <3
