Do crystal faces only develop in certain directions?

Question

If we take a lattice in 2-D and link lattice points together with lines in different directions, will only certain lines become crystal faces? I have a hard follow diagram which shows a horinzonal line across the lattice and a vertical line up the lattice as lines that would form crystal faces. There a few other shorter lines on the diagram linking a few lattice points but I don't know if they would become crystal faces.

Yeah, I think they do. Well, I believe it's more about which faces are more well-developed than the others.

Look up "Bravais Law." In summary, the more nodes the face intersects, the better developed it will be.

Once the crystal is established, the orientation of its faces are fixed.
The shape does not change, so the faces only grow outward.
