last year i bought and i tried to obtain the titles on my 90 cadillac that my cousin had leased and paid off years ago. when i went to the regestration office they told me that i couldnt get it regestered my cousin had to because he cant sell me his car if it has a lien. i got a history report of all owners from the regestration office with the lien holders information. i later found out from an investigation that this company no longer is in business but never removed several peoples liens. the regestration office told me either i file a small claims or i wait 1yr tell the lien is up and try again because a lien is only good for six years. how do i go about getting the titles to a car that my cousin owns but it has a lien thats over 6yrs old. i have the bill of sell and all the other paperwork showing that my cousin sold me the car. how do i get the titles into my name not my cousins.
