when you`re about to cry is there any advice to immediatley stop the tears?

depends on why you're crying. If it's medical, maybe see a doctor. If it's a happy cry, cry onn!. If your sad for a loss, you also deserve to cry. If it's over a man, eat a super sour pickle and imagine he drops a running chainsaw down his pants. it'll be alright !!!!! =)

IProbably ! But I wonder if any of them would be quick enough to be helpful in a particular situation.
There must be physiological as well as emotional needs for crying, so it really seems to me that it would be a little like going against nature.
If crying often is a problem , there could be underlying reasons to be concerned. In that case a talk with the family doctor is in order.

Open your eyes real big and look up to blink the tears back down, and also pretend you don't have on water proof mascara so you CAN NOT cry or you will look like a racoon. Those both work for me most times, but usually only long enough for me to make it to the bathroom, or somewhere else I can be alone.

I try to take slow, deep breaths and also try and think of something other than the issue which is making me cry. It worked, in fact today when I was watching a movie which was playing on of John Lennon's songs which always makes me very sad. I succeeded in not letting any tears fall.

It's probably not good to keep your feelings alll inside. But I'm like that to I don't like to cry in front of people. I take deep breaths that helps from not letting the tears come out. And closing your eyes helps to

You cry until you stop not the other way around...Emotions are good - they help relieve stress - it's what you do with those emotions that can get you into trouble. Like smashing in your ex's windshield with a bat. :0)

think of something really funny...something you find absolutely hysterical.
